Fair use rationale for Image:Luminous arc ds cover.jpg
editImage:Luminous arc ds cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Characters and Plot?
editThere is a request in the Characters section not to remove the charts with the voice talent from the article. I want to write up some really basic character bios to start getting the article underway, but I think that having charts and then sentences will make the article disjointed. Would it be possible to include the actors' names at the top or bottom of each character's information, or are the rest of you set on having the tables in the article? Let me know how you'd like it done. I've also been taking a few notes here and there on how the plot progresses as I play through the game. Does anyone have a preference for where a plot synopsis should go, or shall I put it at the top of the Story section, where it usually goes? Since there are actually people working on the article, I don't want to just plop a bunch of stuff in without collaborating.--Fuen Fuboo 02:17, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- I was actually thinking, since there is outside info for the characters (voice actors, quotes from the developers, etc), if we could just get more outside info, we could just make a new article for the characters and move the boxes there. any ideas? Evaunit666 03:25, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- And about the story stuff, I would add a Plot section under the Story section, like a lot of other bigger game articles do. Evaunit666 03:29, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't want to consider making a separate characters page with the rest of the article in the state that it's in. Given that there are so many Intermissions available for all of the characters, we could theoretically get pretty detailed, but won't the admin push to merge the articles while they're shorter? I don't know how to make new pages, but I'll look it up if you want me to take that chance.
I'll start throwing down as spoiler-free of a walkthrough as I can when I get home from work--all of my notes are there. Thanks to Zeta for finding more of the voice actors. The charts are looking pretty amazing now!--Fuen Fuboo 14:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- The thing about making a new page for the characters is that we would need more outside info. we already have some with the voice actors n stuff. and with the intermissions, we dont want to get too detailed or itll get too fan crufty. but lets wait and see what happens to the article for now; youre right that theyd be too short and get merged right now. and i can make a new page if we ever need to. Evaunit666 02:03, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- I meant that there would be a lot of fuel for the in-game quotes you like so much.--Fuen Fuboo 02:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oh well, then. *missed the point* you seem to have a grasp on what youre doing xD Evaunit666 03:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- I can help with character bios and plot =D i have the game and have completed it three times, ill do what i can okey! DragonChik (talk) 06:35, 18 March 2008 (UTC) :::
- Oh! is it a good idea to include the chapter that the character was introduced in? and if yes, where should we put it? DragonChik (talk) DragonChik - A Trickster, an Idiot, a friend =^_^= 03:53, 3 April 2008 (UTC) :::
Multiplayer Battles
editPlayers can fight against other players in North America with a Wi-Fi option, or locally via the DS' Wireless connection. Items can be won in this manner.
Players can fight against players outside of North America as well. Is the restriction by language/region of the game, or are there in fact no such restrictions at all? If noone knows, the in North America part should be removed, otherwise it should be corrected. -masa ♫ 19:26, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
You probably know more about it than me and i doubt anyone else cares either way, so you should probably just change it to how you see fit. Evaunit666 01:52, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- OVERULED!!! Nah, just kidding, your right. Take it out. --The F50 Man 21:54, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
I can verify that if you are using the Wi-Fi Connection you will face another person anywhere in the world randomly. MasteroftheWord (talk) 02:55, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Character Profiles
editHi, everyone! Thank you to the anonymous person who has been adding character profiles to the page; you should get an account so that we can thank you for your work properly! This summer we agreed to keep the profiles pretty basic, but if you want, I have a lot of quotes stored up about the characters (particularly bits about how Cecille is slow, and other details like that) that we can add to increase the validity of the claims that we seem to be making. However, if you'd rather just keep it as it is, that's fine, too. Please let me know on this page or another one whether you'd like to develop the character section from charts into profiles or if you want to leave the tables in there; we could easily put the voice talent's name after each character, since the Wiki Admin are kind of against tables this season. Let's work together to do the best we can!--Fuen Fuboo (talk) 18:15, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh i think that was me... youre welcome and I'm fine with anything thats added to it as long as it is CORRECT. I'm trying to add more for the bios too okey =D DragonChik (talk) 06:39, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Looking at the table of voice actors at the bottom of each section got me thinking that the {{anime voices}} template could be put to use. By filling it out like this
{{anime voices|[[Akira Ishida]] | [[Grant George]]}} you get a lable next to each name that displays the given character's voice actor. With this example, we would see - Alph - Voiced by: Akira Ishida (Japanese); Grant George (English)
- I don't mind adding these in, I just wanted to bring it here first as a suggestion of one way to clean up the list. Hewinsj (talk) 20:02, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Chapters, Characters, Towns?
editI've been thinking, and I really need to know how far this information is supposed to go. I could add breif chapter summaries, library book references (San Reise is a good place to check library), side quest summaries, a guide on how to talk with each character in Intermissions, Imbueing guide (rares zomg!), Town summaries and many other things. I just need to know how far I can, and should go with this information. And should I add very minor characters like Nikolai's Father and Brother, the ghosts from Saki's clan and Vivi's Shadow. DragonChik - A Trickster, an Idiot, a friend =^_^= 09:21, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- According to WP:Not, Wikipedia isn't a guide/textbook/manual, so you should avoid writing detailed information that might fit in better with sites like Gamefaqs. Things like the library reference, side quest summaries, guide on how to talk to people, imbueing guide, town summaries, etc. would fall under this. There area already places on the web for that, and Wikipedia doesn't aim to make it's own job harder by taking over that role.
- Writing about minor characters should also be avoided as they usually just take up space and could be considered fancruft (which is in turn unencyclopedic). Main characters are fine.
- It's ok to summarize the story of the game, but you should try to do it in a way that covers the whole game in a few paragraphs without going into excessive detail. It's possible to give the reader the rising action, falling action, and conclusion of a story without recalling every single event, conversation, and plot twist.
- If it helps, there's a guide to writing video game articles listedhere. Hewinsj (talk) 15:22, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Page is about the wrong topic
edit"Luminous arc" is an astronomical phenomena. This is where the game got its name. This page is the main page for the term, so it should be about the original term and not a video game. The video game can be on a separate page "Luminous_Arc_Nintendo" and both pages can use the standard disambiguation section on top and link to each other.
When you look for real information and get to a video game page, it makes wikipedia look like a joke.
