Deletion unjustifiable ! edit

Hello, Green-Halcyon ! I don't understand at all why you want to delete this new page, about a very rich and original character, in Dans le ciel, novel by the French writer Octave Mirbeau, which has been discovered and published 22 years ago. It's a very important novel for history of literature and history of art, one of the richest ones in fin-de-siècle literature : Lucien, the painter, has been inspired by Van Gogh himself, a little bit after his death. It seems you don't know French literature nor history of art ! Dans le ciel has been translated in spanish and english, polish and hungarian translations will be published during the next months. Dans le ciel is studied in French departments in many universities around the world ; historians of art, especially specialists of Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh, are interested, of course, by this character and his tragedy. Deletion of the page is absolutely unjustifiable ! Please remove the tag ! Thanks ! Oktavas (talk) 10:20, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Lucien, the main fictional character of Dans le ciel, is a very important one in history of art and literature. — Oktavas (talk) 12:36, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

This article should not be deleted as it is of the utmost importance for both art historical and literary scholars. As an academic who has written her doctoral dissertation on the figure of Lucien as the embodiment of the artistic ideals of Monet and Van Gogh, I strongly contest this deletion. By deleting this article, Wikipedia would be doing an incredible disservice to academics, art lovers, students and the general public.

Pierre Michel, indisputably the world's authority on French novelist/playwright/journalist Octave Mirbeau, has been patiently constructing a thorough Wikipedia set of information on the writer's life, works, and now the principal characters in his fiction. The article under discussion describes the main character in Mirbeau's Dans le ciel. This article should be of interest to students of turn-of-the-century French literature and of Impressionism, since the character in question is based on Vincent Van Gogh. I believe my own bona fides as an established scholar on Mirbeau are evidenced by my 2007 book The Nothing Machine: The fiction of Octave Mirbeau (Amsterdam: Presses Rodopi). Speedy Deletion edit

I am the 3rd person to place this tag. A fictional personality from a book series certainly does should not have an article. Peace — Preceding unsigned comment added by IrishLad1916 (talkcontribs) 16:45, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please have a look at WP:CSD, A7 does not apply to fictional characters, as the tag pretty clearly states. Hairhorn (talk) 16:55, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Deletion inadmissible ! edit

There is absolutely no reason for deleting this page : this censorship is unjustifiable and counterproductive ! In english Wikipedia, there are 226 pages in category "literary characters" ; there are 85 pages in category "Fictional French people". Where is the problem ? Dans le ciel, with its main character, Lucien, the painter inspired by Van Gogh, is a very important decadent novel, for the knowledge of european literature fin-de-siècle and for the history of art, especially for Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh. This article indicates all its sources in the bibliography and four external links. Isn't it sufficient ? Oktavas (talk) 18:09, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think you need to learn what the word "censorship" means. Go to the book's article page, I've kindly moved all the info about Lucien there for you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Green-Halcyon (talkcontribs) 18:48, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Removal of Maintenance Templates edit

Removal of those templates unless issue is resolved is a form of vandalism, I ask that editors refrain from removing them again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Green-Halcyon (talkcontribs) 12:30, 2 March 2012 (UTC) Please save this character analysis of a central figure in Octave Mirbeau's DANS LE CIEL. This is part of a comprehensive scholarly summary of the works, themes, and major characters in the writings of an important late 19th-century French author, compiled by authorities in the Societe Octave Mirbeau. This is useful information for students and researchers.Reply
