What is the qualification of the editor to say that the main part of the song sounds like D minor?24.65.95.239 (talk) 05:09, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Adding the genre "glam metal" to this song? edit

Hey,

just wanting to know if I can add the genre 'glam metal' to this article. One source here references it being a part of this genre:

"By the mid-80s the Glam Metal movement was in full swing, with Van Halen at the forefront. 5150 contains more ballads and love songs than on the hard rocking earlier albums of the Roth era, with synths playing a greater role. 5150 features nine tracks. On Side A are Good Enough; Why Can’t This Be Love?; Get Up; Dreams; and Summer nights. On Side B are Best of Both Worlds; Love Walks In; 5150; and Inside."

That says the album may be glam metal, not the song. Doctorhawkes (talk) 09:34, 4 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would argue that saying the album and then specifying the song means that the songs all fall into the genre.
For example, if I called AC/DC's 'Back in Black' a Hard Rock album. You wouldn't assume it only applied to one song in the album. Rather every song exhibits traits of the genre. AgentKozak (talk) 10:21, 4 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
That's known as synthesis and would be reverted. See Wikipedia:SYNTH. Doctorhawkes (talk) 11:45, 4 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the link.
Another source here. Again referring to the song as glam/pop/hair metal. [2]https://geeksofdoom.com/2011/03/30/book-review-red-my-uncensored-life-in-rock-by-sammy-hagar
" Hagar, on the other hand, was a songwriter who was more into doing originals, and it was his collaborations like “Poundcake” and “Runaround,” as well as the ballads “When It’s Love” and “Love Walks In” that put the band right into the hair metal scene in the mid-1980s, launching Van Halen to new heights not only on the charts but in the concert arena" AgentKozak (talk) 13:17, 4 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
