Removal of section "Door function codes", curtailment of section "Door function" edit

I am providing detail here on the recent edits to this article, beginning with those of Power~enwiki (2018-11-01T10:44:53‎ Power~enwiki (5,532 bytes) (-21,809)‎ (‎Door function: rm entire section; excessive amount of technical detail. WP:NOTMANUAL), which I have now reverted.

The user cites WP:NOTMANUAL as the basis for his/her removal of some 22,000 characters from the article, notwithstanding that standard has nothing to say about the matter of technical detail being excessive. It is inconvenient for readers of the article to lose access to the information removed by the user, which is why I chose to revert the edit.

The merits of editing this article in some way may be discussed here. (For example, the extensive information involved may be more appropriately presented as a separate article.) ArthurOgawa (talk) 06:10, 17 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm still not sure how to respond. I feel the table is clearly excessive here, but I can't support a separate article on "List of ANSI/BHMA lockset classifications" or an article on (e.g.) ANSI F88 lockset either, and there's a decent argument this information should be somewhere on Wikipedia. The material as currently written is very poorly sourced, but the sources very clearly do exist to support the content so that's not a reason to remove it. power~enwiki (π, ν) 22:27, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for responding. You mention "Material is...very poorly sourced, but...the sources do exist..." Each of the lockset types is referenced to one of 9 different citations. I do not understand what you are saying, sorry. Perhaps you could point me to an article that handles sourcing better. ArthurOgawa (talk) 01:47, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
