Kingdom of Pontus -> not a "Greek" kingdom edit

No historian has ever acknowledged the Kingdom of Pontus of having a Greek origin. Greek culture, language, sure, but thats where it ends regarding its "Greek-ness". Its the same as on the Kingdom of Pontus page where its erraneously labeled as a Greco-Persian state in origin, though not a single reference on the page backs this up.

Persian origin:

  • The Foreign Policy of Mithridates VI Eupator, King of Pontus, by B. C. McGing, page 11:Persian origin, Greek language
  • Children of Achilles: The Greeks in Asia Minor Since the Days of Troy, by John Freely, page 69-70:Persian origin, completely Hellenised
  • Strabo of Amasia: A Greek Man of Letters in Augustan Rome, by Daniela Dueck, page 3:originated from the Persian nobility of Cius.

Pontus was a Hellenistic "multiethnic" state with Persian-Greek origins (i think mostly Persian) which was almost completely Hellenised. Official language, etc were Greek. :) Gre regiment (talk)

Split required edit

The article is awkward and includes wars that were definitely not "Greece". I suggest a split, between List of ancient Greek wars and List of modern Greek wars. There is already a List of Byzantine wars. T8612 (talk) 21:23, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
