Purpose of this list edit

This list was forked off of an unwieldy section of the ukulele article that seemed to include any person who had ever played a song on an ukulele in a public context (and then some). Since a list of that nature isn't particularly helpful or encyclopedic, I've tried to narrow it down to only musicians and bands who have made a ukulele their primary instrument. Initial inclusion on this list shouldn't be interpreted as an endorsement of individual notability on my part, since I didn't have time to extensively look at each artist (and a couple seem questionable).

Unless consensus moves in a different direction, when adding people or groups to this list, please only do so if the primary instrument for which they are known is the ukulele. If not, they will be removed. Please also avoid adding redlinks.

If possible, it'd be good to also list which type of ukulele (soprano, tenor, etc.) next to each person or group. Also, when adding someone to the list, you can also tag Category:Ukulele musicians to the bottom of their article. Tijuana Brass (talk) 23:44, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

While I agree that we need a more substantial connection than just playing one once, making it just those for whom it is the primary instrument is a bit restrictive. As an example, George Harrison should certainly be on the list, though it is arguably not his primary instrument. Same with Eddie Vedder and Jimmy Stafford of Train, not their primary instruments, but certainly notable for their contributions to ukulele culture. Based on the posting, I've removed a couple of names. Getting a ukulele when you are ten does not qualify someone for the list. If it isn't substantial enough to mention in the bio of the individual, I don't believe it fits on the list. The Ukulele Dude - Aggie80 (talk) 12:19, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Warren Buffett? Really? 71.237.210.87 (talk) 05:18, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Warren Buffett plays the ukulele, often a custom made model, at least one of which was made by Dave Talsma. The Ukulele Dude - Aggie80 (talk)

Questionable individuals for discussion edit

Basically to provide a location to discuss specifics about some of the names on the list. After a reasonable time period, they will be removed unless someone contests it. Sign any entries you add to the discussion. The Ukulele Dude - Aggie80 (talk) 21:59, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Names Removed as not having made a significant contribution to the instrument edit
