Talk:List of topologies on the category of schemes

Proposed Merger for List of topologies on the category of schemes edit

If this is indeed a fundamental item of study in modern algebraic geometry then I see no reason why it cannot be merged into the article suggested. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 20:42, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

No, these topologies are not all fundamental. It's the category of schemes which is fundamental. Of the topologies on the list, I'd say that you can get by just fine with the Zariski topology most of the time and the Zariski and étale topologies almost all of the time. Most of the topologies on the list are for specialists. That doesn't mean they're not important, but they shouldn't be in the main algebraic geometry article.
I'm removing your merge tag. Ozob (talk) 21:01, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okie doke then. I'll remove it from the proposed mergers page too :) Thanks for pointing that out. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 22:57, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
