More columns
editSome sections, especially the "English-language" section (now half of the entire article), are extremely long. They would benefit from dividing the single column into 2 or 3 columns. Does anyone know how to do it? Nihil novi (talk) 00:30, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've split the English-language directors into 4 columns, the Filipino directors into 3 columns, the Polish directors into 2 columns, and the Portuguese-language directors into 2 columns. Nihil novi (talk) 08:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I am wondering whether we should split everything equally into say 3 columns to neaten the page, and keep uniformity?--TimothyJacobson (talk) 20:33, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Have played around with this, and have decided it looks best with everything in two columns & have set it thus--TimothyJacobson (talk) 12:06, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Alphabetical order
editAfter "English-language," "Filipino" and "French-language," the alphabetical order of the article's sections broke down. It would seem desirable to re-alphabetize the German, multi-lingual, Polish, Portugese and Russian sections (and to list some directors in the now-empty Swedish section). Nihil novi (talk) 00:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've hopefully alphabeticalised everything--TimothyJacobson (talk) 20:33, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
"Red" directors
editThe lists of Filipino and Portuguese-language directors show a preponderance of "red" names, indicating a lack of Wikipedia articles about them. It would be well if persons conversant with the respective national communities could verify these names as being those of bona fide theater directors; and it would be desirable that articles be written about these directors. Nihil novi (talk) 08:18, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Quite a lot of directors in other sections are now "RED". I will, at some point, go through all the red ones and google them to see whether they are bonafide/noteable. If they are, I will request articles written about them; if they are not, I will remove them from the list. Anyone who wants to help, please do --TimothyJacobson (talk) 12:13, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I have now deleted the following "red" directors from the English speaking section: Rowland G Edwards (noteable but not a theatre director), Heronimo Sehmi (actor, not a director), Landon Parks (not notable enough - based on a google search), John Capo (ditto), Bernie Dove (ditto) and Kim Durban (ditto).
I believe, mainly based on google searches, that the other reds, although not necessarily famous, are noteable enough to remain in the list. At the moment, that list consists of: Bob Frith (as he set up The Horse and Bamboo theatre company which DOES have a wikipedia page), Joel Gersmann, Angus Jackson, Katie Laris, Guy Masterson (as he has directed Bill Bailey among others, and contibutes a lot to Edinburgh Fringe), Carmen Maria Milito, Jeff Puukka, Russell Treyz, Susan Watson Turner, Vance Weatherly and Warner Van Wely (see below).
I did not deleted Warner Van Wely from the list, as he is obviously Wiki-Worthy, seeing as does have a page on the Dutch Wikipedia, albeit a stub. See http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warner_van_Wely - I wonder though whether he therefore ought to be moved from the English speaking section?
I was going to do similar regarding removing/minimising reds from the other sections (Filipino, French etc) but don't believe enough people visit this page for it to be worth it.--TimothyJacobson (talk) 19:03, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Three thoughts
editI am wondering whether English speaking should be split up between those who live (or were born) in the USA, and those who live (or were born) in UK and/or other. Also, I am wondering whether it would be worth anyone clicking on all the links, so as to make sure that there is no links to (for example) people who are theatre atcors or film directors in here by mistake. Finally, I wonder whether it is worth linking those red names which are wiki-worthy, but without a site yet, to any relevant external sites about them --TimothyJacobson (talk) 18:28, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
