(Comment) edit

This page need to be separated into sailboat designers (like Nathaniel Herreschoff) and boat manufacturers (like Beneteau) that hire sailboat designers to design their boats. Otherwise as is, it is incomplete by an entire category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.127.13.167 (talkcontribs) 17:39, 24 August 2008‎ (UTC)Reply

Done that, but now the designers list should be made longer.ALe801 10:14, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Non sailboat related parts edit

Keep the page free from parts non related to sailboats, especially motorboats and ship parts from Taiwan. ALe801 10:14, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Agree with that, and as an example, Fairline Boats appears to not be a sail boat manufacturer. 131.0.22.14 (talk) 18:05, 20 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

This is a reminder to contributors that this is a list of notable sailboat designers and manufacturers. The basis for notability is found at Wikipedia:Notability and is, in short, "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list." So, we should expect to see entries to have significant coverage, even if there is no article on them, yet. User:HopsonRoad 12:49, 18 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Current? edit

A recent [when?] tag reminds us that the word "Current" as a heading is not useful, unless someone periodically polices every entry to make sure that they are still in business. I suggest that the list should be divided simply into "Designers" and "Manufacturers" and parsing all the existing entries with blue links into those categories. One can add "(date 1 – date2)" to each historical entry and "(date1 – )" for entries that haven't necessarily gone out of business. Red links probably should go, according to the instructions.
