I request that the Peanuts specials be moved to the Former programming section, since they will no longer air on PBS Kids. 100.7.44.80 (talk) 15:40, 11 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now. 174.27.21.219 (talk) 20:56, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I request the recent merger by SpaceRacersFan14 be undone for being premature. I believe it would be best to hold off on a merger until a consensus is reached, especially in this case when the page being merged into this one still exists as its own separate page. 100.7.44.80 (talk) 15:44, 28 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

The number 2 is used to refer to shows that have ceased airing first-run episodes but are still "airing for reruns." However, by definition, the shows in the Former programming section are no longer "airing for reruns," so I request the "2" notations in that section be removed. 100.7.44.80 (talk) 17:52, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I propose merging List of programs broadcast by PBS Kids (block) into List of programs broadcast by PBS Kids. It appears that both of these pages share almost the same content and seems too make little sense to have both pages. Magical Golden Whip (talk) 16:15, 25 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Go to this page and follow the directions outlined there to propose a merge. 100.7.44.80 (talk) 17:53, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
But the premiere dates between PBS and PBS Kids 24/7 channels are different. SpaceRacersFan14 (talk) 23:34, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nearly all of the premiere dates are exactly the same between PBS and the PBS Kids 24/7 channel. When PBS debuts a new show, it typically airs on the same day on PBS Kids 24/7 channel. This is not significant enough to warrant splitting the pages up like they are now. Itspeeebs (talk) 01:35, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
We should keep this article exclusively for the 24/7 channel and not add the shows from the PBS Kids block here. Doing so would cause confusion over what aired on the block and the channel. Jackthewriterguy12 (talk) 01:46, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but what confusion? Nearly every show airs on both PBS and the PBS Kids 24/7 channel. There is only a handful of programs that were exclusive to PBS (mainly because they aired during the channel's hiatus in the late 2000s-2010s). Likewise, there was only one program (Esme & Roy) exclusive to PBS KIDS Channel (also soon the Elmo talk show). I support merging the lists. Itspeeebs (talk) 01:35, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
The PBS Kids channel carries shows 24/7 rather than the morning and early afternoon the block carries. Not to mention, the shows that premiered on the block and channel are different. Jackthewriterguy12 (talk) 02:03, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Many of the shows are the same on the channel and the block. Sure the 24/7 channel may have not aired older shows from the 90's and 2000's but isn't enough to separate into two different articles. Notes can be made to justify these differences. Magical Golden Whip (talk) 03:16, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
If we want confusion over the shows currently airing on the block and channel then sure. But it's better to have 2 separate articles just to clarify that they are reading what is on the channel or block. Jackthewriterguy12 (talk) 04:45, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Again, the overwhelming majority of shows have aired on both channel and block.
Realistically, I envision someone Googling "list of pbs kids shows" clicking on the first link (presently the "channel" list) and reading that Arthur only started airing in 1999. This can be misleading, since Arthur began airing in 1996. Sure, there's technically a date difference, since the channel didn't exist until 1999, but splitting the lists simply to account for date differences is not beneficial to the reader. If the lists are merged, it reflects a more comprehensive list of all PBS KIDS brand programming. And as mentioned above, notes can be provided, if needed, to clarify any special conditions. Itspeeebs (talk) 22:01, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yea let's not merge these pages. We need separate articles so people know they are viewing what's on the channel or not. Not to mention, some of the shows airing on the channel don't air on the block. Jackthewriterguy12 (talk) 20:11, 13 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
"Not to mention, some of the shows airing on the channel don't air on the block." To reoterate, it's an overwhelming majority that airs on both. If the only differentiation is dates, I don't see how that requires a full separation of lists. Just merge and make notes. Itspeeebs (talk) 03:21, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Let's stop this discussion. There is no need to merge 2 articles that, while related, are about 2 separate topics (a block and channel). Jackthewriterguy12 (talk) 19:27, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
They aren't two separate topics, at the end of the day it's still PBS kids programing. Most shows are exactly the same. I agree Just merge and make notes. If we need to maybe we need to bring in other editors. Magical Golden Whip (talk) 19:55, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Jack. Peeebs. Enough. If you two can't come to a compromise, take this to whatever noticeboard is necessary to help solve this problem. 100.7.44.80 (talk) 21:13, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Tollens (talk) 23:29, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think we need to semi-protect this page due to the amount of unexplained show listing changes made by other people. 2607:FB91:1104:43F4:580B:DB1B:9490:78CB (talk) 01:53, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Missing shows & shorts? (and more) edit

Brace yourself, this is a lot, lol. I am looking through this list for a personal project, and noticed some oddities. First, I noticed that in the current "Web series and short-form programming" section, there are three series that I found on the website missing from the list: "Search It Up!", "Mega Wow!", and "PBS Kids Talk About". Source: https://pbskids.org/videos/shorts

Wilson & Ditch + Chuck Vanderchuck are missing specific premiere dates, are these ones on IMDB accurate? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt19754338/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3104426/

There are also several shows in the "Former PBS Kids original programming" box that aren't on this list page (one example being the original Zoom from 1972), what's up with that?

I also found this very interesting page... a lot of what's listed here that's not on the page is probably web game content (which itself is a whole other can of worms), but might be worth checking out anyway. (What's up with Toopy and Binoo?) https://pbskids.org/help/showlist.html

And finally, could podcasts one day be listed? PBS seems to have been pushing those a lot the past few years. Granted, most are based on pre-existing shows, but there are still a couple original properties like Keyshawn Solves It. Cyborg Sun (talk) 22:24, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I've already discussed this with you individually elsewhere, but here is a response for the wider audience of editors.
-Podcasts, short series, websites and games are not television programs, and are not included in this list in its current state.
-Programs that were never branded under PBS Kids or PTV, or never aired during these eras, are not included in this list.
-IMDb is generally not considered a valid source to be used.
Going forward, it may be well-reasoned to add a section for web-only content, in particular: shorts and podcasts, as they increase in number and popularity. I think this kind of content is notable to add. I would propose that this web-exclusive section be added to the very end of the list, divided into shorts and podcasts. If there is opposition to this idea, please add to this conversation.

End of Production edit

Can we add a column for the years each program ended its original run (in addition to the column for the year they left PBS)? 2601:240:CA02:4E0:295C:FB81:70FB:A687 (talk) 01:38, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Currently the page is titled "List of programs broadcast by PBS Kids", so the dates that are displayed in each table correspond to the dates of PBS broadcast. We could add original run and production date information, but I fear it will clutter the article even more than it already is. Itspeeebs (talk) 22:34, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
