Needs Work

This needs lots of work, several included persons are from no where near Kansas City. Such as Walt Disney (He Was born In Chicago!) And Ernest Hemingway (He was born in Oak Park.... Illinois!)

A Reminder

As I mentioned on the Kansas City, Missouri discussion page, Kansas City and St. Joseph are still separate metropolitans. Unless the St. Joe MSA is absorbed, persons from St. Joseph (notabley Eminem) should not be listed unless they have a distinct connection to KC. --KHill-LTown 03:42, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

A page similar to this one. List of people from San Francisco, is currently under review as an article for deletion, for reasons which would apply to this article as well. I am conducting an RfC on the talk page of the above-mentioned list to determine whether the concensus agrees on keeping such lists or not. Any and all comments are more than welcome. Problem with basing this list on a category

On the article page it says, "This list is now maintained through the Category People from Kansas City, Missouri". The actor William Powell lived in Kansas City and graduated from high school there. So I added him to that category, and then to this list. But the next day someone removed Powell from the category People from Kansas City, Missouri. And I now see that that removal was correct, since he was already in the category Actors from Kansas City, Missouri. And the guideline for categorizing people says that you should use the more specific category instead of the general one. See WP:CDD. So I don't think there is any point in tying this list to the category People from Kansas City, Missouri any longer. It is enough that those listed were born in or lived in Kansas City for a significant time. Not every Kansas Citian will be listed in the more general category but sometimes, legitimately, only in a more specific one. If no one objects, I am going to remove the sentences about the category from the top of this article. --Alan W (talk) 05:45, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
