I've undone the redirect to Lists of universities and colleges. because this list is about conventional and unconventional educational institutes. Whereas Lists of universities and colleges is about western modern style educational institutes which do not fulfill the purpose of listing older institutes likes Nalanda, Somapura etc. This page was forked from List of oldest universities in continuous operation due to the dispute about including pre-medieval and non western higher ed institutes in that list. That dispute was resolved as, that list shall include medieval univs only and this list shall cover all type of old ones. » nafSadh did say 04:27, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- First of all, this list contains hardly anything. IN addition, there are no sources. Are there any sources discussing "oldest education institutes" (whether Western or otherwise)? If not, then you are basically doing original research and violating WP:SYNTH in creating this list. I am going to restore the redirect. You're free to revert that again, I won't edit war over this, but I have to say that in that case I'll propose this for deletion and take it to AfD. --Crusio (talk) 07:16, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response, and if that is not a threat. Yes, it apparently may be an OR; but, this article is in very early stage. I and (hopefully) other contributors are doing research on sources. I'll not revert your redirect, that'll already be an edit war. Again (as I knew), an article shall not be taken in AfD for question of contents. » nafSadh did say 12:04, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, but it can be taken to AfD if there is no adequate sourcing. That is, not just individual sources for each entry showing something about the entry, but sources that establish that the subject of the list (i.e., oldest institutes of higher education) is notable and has been the subject of multiple reliable sources. A revert by you at this point is not an edit war yet and me telling you what intend to do if a revert takes place is not a threat (after all, the outcome of an AfD is never certain). --Crusio (talk) 12:24, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
