This looks like a nice, systematic page. On closer inspection, however, it is rather confusing.
To start with, the current title—List of official residences—suggests, not surprisingly I believe, a list of residences (or dwellings—the current Wikipedia redirect). "Residence" as opposed to "workplace" I suppose?
Secondly, a definition of "official" is missing from this page, too.
s.v. Brazil:
- Palácio do Planalto (presidential office)
- Palácio da Alvorada (presidential residence)
In what way is the presidential office relevant for a "List of official residences"? As far as Austria is concerned, Heinz Fischer does not live at the Hofburg; he works there.
Any suggestions as to how this page could be improved? 02:23, Dec 21, 2004 (UTC)
- Well, to answer your points one at a time:
- the current title—List of official residences—suggests, not surprisingly I believe, a list of residences (or dwellings—the current Wikipedia redirect). "Residence" as opposed to "workplace" I suppose? Secondly, a definition of "official" is missing from this page, too.
- Both of these can be answered by the fact that the name for such buildings is, officially, "Official residences". There is, in fact, a stubby article called Official residence.
- In what way is the presidential office relevant for a "List of official residences"? As far as Austria is concerned, Heinz Fischer does not live at the Hofburg; he works there.
- Good question. But the answer is - referring back to the first answer - is it officially described by the Austrian government as an official residence?
- Any suggestions as to how this page could be improved?
- The obvious was is the one I'm proposing both on this article's page and on Official residence - that the articles be merged. That would give a definition of what an official residence is, followed by the list.
