Welcome to my first attempt at creating a serious category in Wikipedia (as opposed to a serious article). I hope to figure out how to turn this into a category. Right now I'm busy creating stubs for the many, many for-profit colleges and universities Bobak 01:09, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Student transfer

I removed the following sentence from the article: "According to the National Center for Education Statistics (2014), students from for-profit colleges are less likely to transfer to public colleges and universities ."

I removed this sentence because it has evidently been added to this article to warn people away from for-profit institutions. That's not only inappropriate but it's also a misuse and misunderstanding of the cited source which has little discussion of the quality of for-profits or the reasons why students do or do not transfer. This particular factoid may contribute to a larger discussion of student transfer but by itself it has no place in this list article. ElKevbo (talk) 21:45, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Credit transfer

I have removed the following sentence from this article: "It is imperative that buyers beware, by asking recruiters, in writing, if credits taken at these schools will transfer to public colleges and universities if that is their intention. "

I removed it for two reasons. First, it is wholly inappropriate to have such statements in encyclopedia articles; see our policy on what Wikipedia is not and this helpful essay for further discussion and explanation. Second, the statement isn't well supported by the cited source. It's possible to rewrite it to align with the source but even if that were done it would be entirely out of place in this list article. At best, it belongs in another article about for-profit institutions and not this simple list article (which is probably better as a category but that's a discussion for another time). Where did this list come from? It's uncited. What defines a for-profit college, and who aggregated the data for this page?
