Weird, those links for Ka:ook and the other two by it go to what I think is a Khmer language page on the Commons, which of course I can't read (whatever "ka" is before wikipedia.org...looks like Khmer to me but I'm not sure.Skookum1 (talk) 01:47, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't see it here, but "(s)yáqtsa7 (Former First Nations village" I just found while sourcing Silver River, British Columbia. Don't know whether to bother making a (s)yáqtsa7 redirect......if so, would put that in a non-extant-so-far category Category:Former First Nations villages.Skookum1 (talk) 03:56, 2 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Former Indian villages

edit

Defn: "A place formerly inhabited by Amerindians, with no current population or that is usually uninhabited."

Is this including "Former First Nations villages" or "Former First Nation villages" not sure which I've seen......some might say fishing or hunting camps; Caribou Hide, British Columbia was one such, though it's designated a "locality" (and is decidedly abandoned nowadays, though someone in Telegraph Creek or Dease Lake or Eddontenajon might know different. I know there's one place on the Klinaklini River that's an old "grease" camp still in use, I'll find it and see what its designation is.Skookum1 (talk) 05:09, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
It is not. I've added a new section to accommodate. Hwy43 (talk) 05:45, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's Dzawadi, now in the Klinaklini R article under its BC Names spelling Tsawatti`. It's also the name of Knight Inlet and the Klinaklini. I'll get around to an article on it, with Tsawatti 1 IR redirected to it; whenever possible, IMO, community names are more important as names than the IR name, for merge/ redirect issues.Skookum1 (talk) 09:07, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think there's another designation you'll encounter in BC Names - "Haida village"....Haina and others I think are listed that way.Skookum1 (talk) 06:28, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
No hits for "Haida village" in the extract I received from GeoBC. The extract however designates Haina as a locality. Hwy43 (talk) 06:45, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hm wonder where I saw that.....know I did. don't think I used it as a ref on List of Haida villages thoughSkookum1 (talk) 07:10, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
