Redoing the list

edit

I think that the list needs to be redone. All of the other lists for provinces and territories contain only airlines that are based in that province/territory, and not any ones with routes in them but based elsewhere. Also, to maintain continuity between lists, the image section should be removed.

I am happy to do all of this work on my own, but I don't want to just go ahead and do it without the approval of others.

I disagree. Other than the list for Ontario this was created before the others and they should be brought into line with this one. The images should stay, small sized, as they give an example of the livery. If the list is reduced to the eight that are based in Nunavut (2 of those are "paper airlines") then the three largest airlines, and the one airline that is 50% owned by the Inuit of Nunavut, will no longer appear in the list. Take a look at the three airlines, Calm Air serves 7 destinations in Nunavut and 8 others, all in Manitoba. Canadian North serves 14 destinations in Nunavut, 1 in Alberta, 1 in Ontario and 3 in the NWT where the headquarters are. First Air serves 18/19 in Nunavut, 1 in Alberta, 5 in the NWT, 1 in Manitoba, 1 in Yukon, 2 in Quebec (where the owners live) and 1 in Ontario where the headquarters are. Having these included give a better picture of air travel in Nunavut. However, I do notice that the notes section could better indicate where the headquarters of the airlines are. something lame from CBW 11:40, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Come to think of it, the images are a good idea and the other lists should be brought in line with that. However, I still disagree with the list containing airlines not based in Nunavut. It is my understanding that these lists were supposed to show which airlines were from where, not to give a picture of what air travel is like in a specific place.

The thing is though when I first came across this article there was no clear indication that it was only for NU based airlines, nor was there any indication of that in the Ontario one. I thought that it was better to include more information rather than too little. That way the reader can see not only which airlines are based here but also which airlines have a major presence. You must admit that its a bit of a joke to say that First Air is an Ontario airline, just because it has its headquarters there, when the only place it serves is Ottawa to Iqaluit. something lame from CBW 20:51, 18 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

So? That's like saying that SkyLink Aviation is an airline of Afghanistan just because it has a regional office there. Sure it provides services there, but it is a Canadian company. Also, do any of the other lists (not just in Canada) have airlines from other regions that are incorporated into other lists?

I have no idea how the other lists are as I never looked at them. I just see little point in deleting valid information as long as it's clearly laid out that the airlines are headquartered elsewhere. something lame from CBW 15:46, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
