Merger proposal

Merger completion

  • Can someone who knows how to complete the merger please complete the merger? Rebel shadow 21:44, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Uh oh!

Look at Talk:List of Disney theatrical animated features at a section with the heading "Uh oh!" Rebel shadow mentioned this talk page as where the discussion should be instead. Any thoughts on why Disney did this?? Georgia guy (talk) 20:17, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

It may just be an omission. I wouldn't read too much into it just yet. --Rob Sinden (talk) 07:56, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
What would you read into it?? It omits 2 films and includes one film; Paperman. Georgia guy (talk) 12:06, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
Well, I don't think that someone has gone back in time and changed the production company of the films in question. They were still Disney productions, no matter what their website may or may not show. Also, Paperman is not a feature film, it's a short. --Rob Sinden (talk) 13:14, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
So why are they including Paperman in their official list?? Georgia guy (talk) 13:19, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
Who knows? Don't worry about it. Nothing has changed, they're just presenting the information how they see fit. --Rob Sinden (talk) 14:28, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Page Proposals

I suggest that an average Rotten Tomatoes and IMBD rating be added for this studio like in the Pixar page. Would someone be kind enough to do it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.122.147.230 (talk) 23:13, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

They were there, but I have removed them from both pages - a table of "scores" compiled from vote sites is not notable or appropriate here. --Rob Sinden (talk) 09:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Rotten Tomatoes is a critic ranking site, so that really shouldn't be removed. Also, why is it so bad to have the people's ratings on Wikipedia? --Adam the silly (talk) 13:44, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
It's not encyclopedic per WP:INDISCRIMINATE. --Rob Sinden (talk) 14:03, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Zootopia

This article is saying that the 55th film is an untitled film separate from Zootopia. Any arguments supporting this?? Georgia guy (talk) 13:42, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Is there any source which states that Zootopia is the 55th film and will be released on that specific date? --Rob Sinden (talk) 14:07, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
The sources that Wikipedia used when adding Zootopia to the list say that this is what is currently being scheduled; though it might change at the last minute. Georgia guy (talk) 14:12, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
The source that gives the dates does not indicate which films are when. Also, is Blue Sky Disney much more than a blog? --Rob Sinden (talk)
You mean, one possible story is that "King of the Elves" will be the 55th film and "Zootopia" the 56th?? Georgia guy (talk) 14:59, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
No, that maybe Giant will be the 55th. --Rob Sinden (talk) 15:09, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

There is a note at the top of the section: "Only the films released since 1989 are listed in this section." For the films released before 1989, Box Office Mojo does not have all numbers - in this case, there are no foreign grosses.--Carniolus (talk) 19:50, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Mass blanking and unsourced additions

I just reverted 29 edits in a row because of the mass blanking of summaries, directors, producers by @68.103.222.98: (not sure if ping works for IPs.) If this is found to be truthful and accurate, you have my blessing to revert it back. Tutelary (talk) 20:21, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Wreck-It-Ralph 2

Should Wreck-It-Ralph 2 be added to the upcoming section? Henry Jackman recently stated the film is in early development, is that a valid source or not? Just wondering! Jakecartoon345 (talk) 01:38, 1 June 2014.

No. Not until it officially begins production and development is over.--FuriousFreddy (talk) 05:02, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
For additional information regarding planned films, please read this section. --McDoobAU93 13:12, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Alright, thanks for responding! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.116.12.178 (talk) 01:39, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

John C. Riley just announced that he is signed up to do Wreck-It-Ralph 2, so sources say that a sequel is currently in development. does that mean it will be added to the list of upcoming features?--70Jack90 (talk) 04:23, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

This is what I'm wondering, it's basically officially confirmed now. --Fluffydipper (talk) 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Upcoming films

The chart for upcoming films needs to be adjusted for consistency. It lists the second 2016 release as "untitled" yet in two other spots in the article the film Giants is identified as that second 2016 issue. And Moana is identified as one of the "untitled" films listed for 2018. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 18:20, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

There actually is a consistency that may need to be explained further in the article. The dates in the "upcoming films" section have been provided by Disney as planned dates for some animated feature. However, they have not said specifically which films will take which spots. It's entirely possible for Moana to be cancelled and a new film to take its place in that slot. As regards the discussions of the upcoming films, those are the planned release years for those films, but again, no information is specifically linking those films to particular dates. We probably should flesh that out in the article too. --McDoobAU93 18:25, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Associated films

This section needs an introduction to explain how they are associated with the main series. Are they associated by personnel? The fact they include animation? What? 68.146.52.234 (talk) 18:21, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Giants

Users keep adding Giants as the 57th film. However, User:Carniolus says that this is not necessarily true, which I believe means it's also possible that "King of the Elves" will be the 57th and "Giants" the 58th. Is this really possible?? (The Disney Wikia used to say that A Wrinkle in Time was going to be the 58th, but now it is known that this film is live-action. If Giants is not going to be the 57th film, what else is possible?? Georgia guy (talk) 13:59, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I was removing Giants because there were no reliable sources that would confirm its supposed 2018 release date. But, now I've found an archived article from Variety, where Lasseter himself confirms that Giants will follow Moana - so it will be released on March 9, 2018.--Carniolus (talk) 14:07, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
That same source also says that The Good Dinosaur, which we know will come out in the fall of 2015, won't be released until 2016. Georgia guy (talk) 14:09, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Old sources are OK unless newer sources update them. The fact that the date for The Good Dinosaur has changed does not invalidate sourced information on an unrelated film. Put another way, just because one thing changes doesn't make the entire article unreliable. --McDoobAU93 14:22, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Must be a typo, or the South Korean release date, or maybe the film has again been rescheduled... We don't know that from the article, but Variety is generally considered a reliable source.--Carniolus (talk) 14:24, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

All WDAS films after Gigantic to be sequels??

This is a ridiculous piece of information! It shows that soon we'll be entering a new era for Disney movies. Any information about this?? Georgia guy (talk) 19:59, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

There's nothing confirming any of the sequel releases, only that they're being discussed. The only one Disney has definitively said they're working on is Frozen 2. The others are all saying essentially the same thing: "we'd like to do a sequel, and we have some ideas, but we'll only do it if everything comes together". --McDoobAU93 20:25, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

List numbers in the UK

There's a note about the fact that Winnie the Pooh wasn't released as a numbered movie in the UK (hence Wreck It Ralph is no.51 instead, and so on), but I believe that also Dinosaur wasn't released with a number (it's certainly not in my own DVD collection with one, and I don't have a gap in the collection), but The Wild is numbered (as 46). If there's not already some note about this on the page (I looked, couldn't see one but it's quite late and I might've missed it), is it worth including a footnote about? KoopaCooper (talk) 01:32, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

"The Wild" was in fact a Canadian movie; produced by a company called CORE. Disney only distributed it. "Winnie-the-Pooh", on the other hand, belongs in the sequence. Georgia guy (talk) 15:33, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Edit war

The page is now protected to stop the edit war that was going on here. Sniping in edit sumarries while repeatedly reverting one another is not how we resolve content disputes. Present your cases and seek a consensus on the matter. Further edit warring after protection expires can and will lead to all edit warriors being blocked. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:11, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

I was reverting unsourced and misleading edits that kept stating that the directors of Tangled are definitely returning for a sequel. Some of the reverted speculations are:
  • "Given that the directors are busy with Zootopia and Gigantic, the sequel will not be able to start production until March 2018."
  • "The production will start in 2019, due to directors are ready after finished Zootopia and Gigantic, and a potential release date is 2022 (production takes from 3 to 4 years). Although "Tangled 2" is stopped by the time, the sequel is more assured to be taken up, because at Disney there is a lot of pressure to make it ("pushed heavily")"
The reality is that it was confirmed this year that the directors were not interested in a sequel, and nothing has changed since then. Therefore, any information about the cancelled/denied sequel has no place in the "Upcoming" section.--Carniolus (talk) 22:15, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Theory on the future of Disney animated movies

It appears that after the spring of 2018, all Disney or Pixar animated movies are going to be sequels to old movies. Any evidence that this theory is wrong?? If this theory is right, I'll feel that we'll be in a new era for Disney movies. Georgia guy (talk) 16:20, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
