Road Team Winning Formatting edit
Is it excessive to have both an asterisk and a red shading to highlight game sevens where the road team won? Would it be better to have just one or the other (probably keep the shading because it stands out better)? 160.93.6.3 (talk) 19:52, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- As far as I'm aware it is to help satisfy MOS:COLOR as it recommends that color is "not the only method used to convey important information" in a table. Tampabay721 (talk) 03:53, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Incorrect reference in the Bruins-Montreal May 2014 result edit
I clicked on Reference [1] and instead of the Montreal, 3-1, Game 7 summary, it was the Bruins, 4-2, Game 5 summary. Should be this summary: https://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/201405140BOS.html. Just wanted to bring it to someone's attention. Reference that team with better season record plays game 7 at home edit
Although true since the NHL adopted the new format, it has not always been the case that the team with the better record plays game 7 at home. In the past, where the two (and then three) division winners were automatically assigned the top 2 (then 3) seeds, it was possible that a second, and even lower placed teams, from a strong division with better records than a division winner from another division had to be seeded lower than that division winning team with a worse record. If those teams met in the playoffs, which did happen, the higher seeded team with the weaker record played games 1,2,5 and 7 at home.NazartheGreat (talk) 05:10, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- @NazartheGreat: I have changed the wording of the EFN to simply state that the team with home-ice advantage hosts games 1, 2, 5, and 7 rather than saying the team that has the better regular season record hosts those games, as you pointed out correctly that not such was not the case always. For example I remember the 2007 Thrashers-Rangers series, although was a sweep and isn't really relevant to this particular article, is a good case since the Thrashers were the 3rd seed as a division winner and therefore had home-ice but had fewer points than the Rangers. I also decided to word it that way rather than just saying the higher seed gets home-ice advantage because I believe in the Finals, at least in some previous years, does go to the team with the better regular season record, rather than the higher seed.
