Antena 3 vs Netflix cut edit

Old findings by User:Sgeureka

This kept my mind occupied more than I want to admit, but here are the (Edit: rough) time stamp differences between the Antena 3 and Netflix ctus, as per www.themoviedb.org/tv/71446-la-casa-de-papel/discuss/5ac8443b92514162a2036043#5ac9db31c3a36834d005336c. The relevant poster also identified at least two scenes that didn't make the Netflix cut (don't have the link at hand), so those scenes were probably from Antena 3's P01E02 and P01E03. – sgeureka tc 13:06, 23 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Quote by Janar: "As far as I remember, the version that aired on Netflix did not have any new scene(s) at all! In fact, especially season 1 is shorter because Netflix did not include a few scenes. For example, I remember the scene when Raquel was at the kid's birthday party and the kids found her gun in the closet (or was it her jacket - perhaps). Or the scene in which Fran apologized to Maria for taking the boob picture on his mobile. Both are not in the Netflix version, as far as I remember." Another quote by Janar: "However, apart from that, I remember quite a lot of differences between the cuts! I didn't write this down and don't have time to check right now, but from memory (spoilers for people who didn't watch the show):
  • The flashback in which Nairobi tells Tokyo about her kid was moved around.
  • The flashback in which The Professor and Nairobi talk about his father was moved.
  • The scene in which Berlin finds Monica alive in the bath room was cut short.
  • The scene of Denver and Monica kissing and getting it on was edited and cut in pieces.
  • I think when The Professor left the hangar to go the car dump (or to meet the inspector - not sure right now), they used a different music song for that scene.
There are a lot more, but I fail to remember them right now." Source: www.themoviedb.org/tv/71446-la-casa-de-papel/discuss/5a8aa9ed0e0a26401108eabc#5ac4e319c3a3682db504fc44

I know this is WP:FANCRUFT, that's why I won't copy it to the LoE article. But learning about the different cuts were really important to me, so I finally bought the Spanish DVD boxed set and made the comparison myself. I'll leave the charts below in case someone wondered about the differences as well. (I left out trivial changes like non-dialog trimmings for pace or the removal of a spoken sentence/voice-over.) The changed scenes are also up on youtube.– sgeureka tc 22:45, 20 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Money Heist: The Phenomenon? edit

@Sgeureka: Include recent "Money Heist: The Phenomenon" addition based on some flimsy sources? I find it very odd that news that a 'film' will be released the same day as part 4 is only breaking now. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:42, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Per Money Heist#Future, "Netflix announced in December 2019 that part 4 would be released on 3 April 2020;[96] a documentary involving the producers and the cast will premiere on Netflix the same day.[97]" I guess it's that documentary. Lost (TV series) had that all the time before a new season started. For the time being, I don't think this is worth more than a brief lead sentence in a relevant (future) section of this LoE, similar to how Lost_(season_6)#Episodes does it. – sgeureka tc 22:44, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Summaries and split edit

Hi @Brojam:. Considering Money Heist has been reported to be renewed for another two parts, I had gone ahead and split them into individual seasons, but yes, as of now without the third season, I suppose it was a little premature. Regarding the summaries, I do believe WP:IAR applies as it is helped by not creating plot gaps if the summaries were forced to be brought down to 200 words each. If each had their own article, it would go up to 500 words, which is rather paradoxical. Again, this is a guide not a policy and Wikipedia is certainly not improved by WP:Tag bombing. Anything you see that can be shortened on first glance, I'd be happy to listen to actual improvements. Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 06:40, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Even if the series has been renewed for another two parts, it would still not meet MOS:TVSPLIT since you are only splitting the episode summaries without adding any new content that's not already found on the series' main article. There should always be real world content to accompany any additional split that is not simply a duplication of the main page's content.
For the plot summaries, MOS:TVPLOT is clear that they have to be no more than 200 words per episode, or a prose summary of no more than 500 words (for the entire season instead of a table), not both. Plot sections should summarize the core storyline(s), but not offer a scene-by-scene sequence of everything that happens, or attempt to evaluate, interpret or analyze it... Overly detailed summaries are unencyclopedic. There's no reason why episodes that are less than 1 hour can't be shorten to 200 word summaries. - Brojam (talk) 07:00, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I see it like Brojam and generally support WP:TVSPLIT. For MH, my main issue is that we won't know for a while how part 5 (which is technically still not confirmed) and a possible part 6 interconnect with the other parts. E.g. will it still make sense to divide it up into 2 parts == 1 season [article], or will it make more sense to divide them up differently (e.g. original two parts, and renewed three or for parts). Also, I'd like to see this developed in draft/user space before the split goes live. But I reckon it will still take at least 6-12 months before there is enough content to justify the split. – sgeureka tc 07:45, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
That's fine regarding the split. Anyway, I don't care so much about the split right now, mainly regarding the summaries to avoid the tag bomb. Not sure if Brojam's watched the show (only way he could attest to the content of the summaries to assist in shortening), but even though I find the 200 word guide much too little, I will strive to get the summaries as close to that as possible promptly (day or two). It being a guide, this figure does not have to be exact but I will try and get the ones with 300+ within reason. In the meantime, if sgeureka wants to have a crack at it, by all means, otherwise I'll get to it shortly. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 07:49, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
You do your thing. At the moment, I am far more interested in getting Money Heist#Season 2: Parts 3 and 4 (2019–20) down in length. There is still (even after my initial reduction) way too much blow-by-blow plot detail there, when it should be about overview. My take is that people should watch the show if they're interested in detail. – sgeureka tc 08:03, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

However humble my opinion may be, I still want to give it. Vaselineeeeeeee has all my support and the world wants the articles on the episodes of Money Heist to be splits by each season as it is, here on Wikipedia, for TV series much, much, much less important than this one. It seems that Brojam and sgeureka have not yet noticed how big and important the Money Heist phenomenon in worldwide is. --Kasper2006 (talk) 06:18, 19 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

The worldwide popularity of a series does not determine if we split or not. We base it on article size/readable prose per MOS:TVSPLIT, WP:SPLIT, WP:SUMMARY, WP:SPINOUT, WP:LENGTH. (And trust me, I know how big this series, still doesn't change anything.) - Brojam (talk) 04:18, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
A few days ago I trimmed the episodes that were excessively over down to about 250 words. The template says *may be too long*. In this case, I believe this is the best it can get. If someone who has actually watched the show and think they can do better, be my guest. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 04:09, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Three different editors have voiced their concerns with the length of the plots so keep the tags till they have been reduced. Having the tags will allow other readers and editors to notice that some of the plots need to be reduced and can try to help. - Brojam (talk) 04:18, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
And two have voiced that this is a guide and is not applicable in every case, and this is a time that I think is warranted, especially after giving it another trim down. You don't need to deface an article with a tag - if someone thinks they can do better - they will - tag or not. You have been shown at the TV project several articles that don't warrant splits into award articles. Will you carry out the merge or will your hard on persist only for this page and not for the rules (guide) you live and die by? Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 04:24, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
No need to bring in other discussions here, but if I had the time to merge them all, I would definitely do it. It takes years to fix all the old articles that no longer respect the newer guidelines of Wikipedia. And, I would do the same for any other article I either followed or visited. As for the plots, I don't see how tagging 5 episode plots out of 31 is tag bombing. If anything, it will lead to much better plots, which should be your end goal, no? - Brojam (talk) 04:36, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Those were just brought to you on a silver platter and no swift action like you have here—no worries. Anyway, "it will lead to much better plots." This of course is subjective. You obviously think the only way to have a good plot is strict adherence to a guide that recommends we not go over 200 words. However, if this means that it is done with 250 words that has all key aspects of those episodes without creating plot gaps, *while also omitting lots of other information that is seen as "excessive,"* then so be it. If you watched the show you would know that. That is why I do not agree with the template when it says there is excessive detail. If someone comes along and thinks they can shorten it then they can have it at, but that is not to say that tagging the page galore will be the solution to this dire issue you have. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 04:55, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I continue to agree word by word with Vaselineee, also in my opinion some MOS or WP are obsolete and could be revised. Anyway, I wanted to tell Brojam that in the first answer he gave you he used five interwiki to the rules, wouldn't he have a few more that seem to me very few?
