Air dates?

edit

Many of these dates seem suspicious or doubtful. For example, "New York City Subway" was part of a New York City week, but the date of "New York City Bridges" is six months later. Another example, "The Tunnels of Vietnam" is dated 11/2002, but the copyright on the video is 2001. Furthermore, it is queer how many releases are listed as January 1, perhaps this means the year is known, but not the month and day? There is no documentation provided indicating where these dates came from. In other words, it is not verifiable. You will not find many dates on the Modern Marvels web site. Those that are shown may be rebroadcast dates. 71.210.8.235 07:39, 8 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The World's Longest Bridge is missing from this list. It first aired 10/27/04.

A new Telephone episode aired on 11/13/06. This was not the same one that aired in '96.

For starters, Seasons 9 - 12 are in list format. They should be in tables, as the other seasons are. Jauerback 14:58, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've updated the listing with all available data from The History Channel directly. There's a lot of missing info still, but this was the most complete source available. I had to remove the pre-existing data as there were too many conflicts with what is currently listed on their site. I've cited my source for each season's episode list on the season listing table. List Problems

edit

Ive been trying to fix a bit of these errors, havent had much time lately and this is a pretty huge list

the production number is actually the episode number so im changing that mislabeled row, i put it there awhile ago when tv.com called it that

edit

Some of the episodes have been linked to general articles of the subject. They should be linked to Wikipedia entry about the episodes. If such an entry doesn't exist, then it shouldn't be linked to anything. Also, the links appear in random - either link them all, or link none. I'm tempted to remove all links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.254.92.249 (talk) 16:03, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

References

edit

I think we need to cite this list somehow. Some of it seems inaccurate. I'll look at the TV.com and TV Guide lists and see how much of this I can verify.Poshzombie (talk) 20:18, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Winchester

edit

I just saw this episode a while back. I don't see it in the list. The link below says it is from Season 4 and was episode 6.

[1]

The Winchester

* Season 4 Episode 6 * Plot: Winchester...the name still evokes images of the Wild West and the taming of the frontier--it was the first reliable repeating rifle and settlers brought it along as they moved west. Prized by Civil War soldiers, the lever-action rifle was preferred by lawmen and outlaws alike. A classic Winchester can command upwards of $100,000 from collectors trying to buy a piece of the Old West. We see how a shirt manufacturer named Oliver Winchester became the most famous gun maker of the American West. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jtltke137 (talkcontribs) 06:04, 3 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

soft drinks - one must be wrong

edit

there are 2 Soft Drink episodes listed:

Season 14 -- 526 "Soft Drinks" September 29, 2008

Season 15 -- 548 "Soft Drinks" April 15, 2010

tv.com only has the one in season 14. also i doubt they would make 2 so close together.

Hoover Dam

edit

The original Hoover Dam was from Season 5 - 040 "Hoover Dam" July 12, 1999

however i saw a newer version of the some show, with new interviews graphics and footage. at the end it had a copyright of 1999 & 2005 so is this one made to replace the old episode or is it a new show not shown in any lists? there have been to Helicopter Episodes Modern Marvels - 143 - Helicopters - Season 8 - January 17, 2002.avi Modern Marvels - 549 - Helicopters - Season 15 - April 22, 2010.mkv

the old one focuses on the history of helicopters while the new one is all about current helicopters. but the two Hoover Dam episodes have almost identical scripts. 66.76.154.104 (talk) 20:09, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Convoluted Mess

edit

I have been trying to clean up some of this, or at least make it more readable. Wish there were more verifiable sites available, namely a proper list from the producers. Seems like many people have added dates on repeats instead of original air dates. Having 3 new episodes on the same day sounds fishy. I have used The History Channel, IMDB.com and tv.com to find missing dates. The only information on the shows is the year, which we can only hope is correct. A number of sites have 2004 listed, but that looks like before the show even was created. The listings of seasons doesn't look right either, as there is no standard endings, so the categories are more year by year. At least the new ones we will be able to verify as shown. I have continued to add episodes that have been found, but some of them only have years available. When two original dates are found, we should go with the earliest one. I am going to change the episode numbers, as nobody seems to have an accurate complete list of all episodes. You will now be able to adjust the season with ease as the specific dates are confirmed. I have retitled the seasons and moved them correctly, because having them only listed by year is wrong. Tvashtar2919 (talk) 12:16, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I believe this page is good now. Tables have been standardized with size and color. Seasons are labeled by logic instead of just years. Episode numbers are locked into seasons, instead of just a long list. There is absolutely no consistent way to list the episodes from the various sources of history, tv, imdb, and amazon, so I have used the prominent and default factor of the original air date. There is no way to verify episode numbers, when they are shown out of order from production. There are a lot of links available, but I do not believe it is over-linked. While in a paragraph it can make something unreadable, in a table such as this I think it looks fine. I have verified titles and deleted duplicates as I have watched them. I will add the new ones as they come on air. Tvashtar2919 (talk) 19:56, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Big Rigs of Combat: Jeeps/Tanks

edit

The list currently has this listed as one combined episode ("Big Rigs of Combat: Tanks/Jeeps" as 9-20) but seems to have been two separate episodes in the past. In particular, the versions I have has the "Jeeps" episode using the current intro while the "Tanks" episode seems to be a repackage of a previous separate special (it uses the original text-and-gears intro clip after the heading "Modern Marvels: Then & Now" and has a different narrator). Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any useful information on them to come up with an original airdate for the Tanks episode, only that it must be earlier judging by the intro. --Lordebon (talk) 03:20, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
