article started
editStarted work on this episode listing today. I plan to do a small update (three or four eps) a day. Any help/change is appreciated --Catneven 16:12, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
major changes
editThanks for your help on the list of nikita episodes. I have some comments however; 1: The order of episodes that is now on the article is not the correct one according to billiedoux.com, referenced on the main nikita page. That site uses the dvd as reference. If this is the correct order of episodes, can you explain why? 2: I think we should not give too much away in the summary text. have a look at List_of_Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender_episodes or List_of_Prison_Break_episodes 3: Some summaries are too long anyway (season 4 and 5)
Please discuss any next major changes on the article there as well. Otherwise, the changes may be undone. -Catneven 09:54, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I noticed you directly copied the synopsis from the source site. This is not allowed. If you can not explain this. I will revert the article to the last 'pure' form...`Catneven 10:22, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Catneven, thanks for writing.
- As you say, It's better to do the comments in fewer words in this first list of episodes. But then, I have another idea: let's make in Wikipedia La Femme Nikita like House (TV series). This is:
- a) Principal page describing the series (Characters, Recurring characters, Plot, etc.).
- b) Page of: List of episodes (as you say, with few comment words)
- c) Page of: full season description (one season by one, in his own page)
- and/or
- d) Pages of: full episode description
- I agree this would be the best solution. If you feel up to the task of creating those extra pahes, this, of course, would be superb. For the future, sperate pages about characters, places (eg section one) might also be a good idea.-Catneven 12:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- This has been already done in House (TV series) and the recent episodes of Smallville (TV series).
- About the episodes order, I checked the site billiedoux.com, and in the page of LFN, Billie Doux says that he "discovered it on DVD". So the order he uses is the DVD episodes order. I am using the original TV series aired order. I'm a long time fan of LFN and principally of Roy Dupuis. That's the order that I not only remember. I have it too written in my personal notations. You can also check this original order in many fan pages of LFN and Roy Dupuis (many were made since the series was aired for the first time in the USA Network.
- We all long time fans are familiar with this original order. I don't know which criteria order was used by the DVD editors to change the episode list.
- Great, can we use one of them as a reliable source (acknowledged by producers or so)-Catneven 12:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- We can use this variation of episode order in the trivia section.
- About the copied the synopsis you're right. I'll work in making my own synopsis as I'm seeing right now the complete LFN series repetition in A&E Latino.
- I wasn't aware that this wasn't allowed, so that I made the reference the source site, sorry.
- I'll be more than happy to spend my free hours to do the pages I'm mentioning to you, but of course, I'm already waiting your ideas, comments and all about this. Camohpalli 22:07, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- Ok , let's go with your idea. So for now lets go back to the old (or new but shorter) synopsis and keep the order of episodes you suggested. I can do this tomorrow or you can if you like. I will also keep adding screenshots. Thanks for your time -Catneven 12:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use images
editI assume the reason the screenshots have been removed is this:
Make sure any non-free images are matched up with substantial discussion, that there isn't more than the absolute minimum used, and that all images are tagged correctly. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. Per episode images in lists with many episodes aren't specifically forbidden by wikipedia or foundation policy, but some editors feel that such use isn't "minimal" and have been removing them; this issue is currently very controversial and under much discussion.(from Wikipedia:WikiProject Television/Episode lists)
If you don't agree, feel free to post a question there. nadav 04:05, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- the page you provided doesn't seem to conatin any discussion about this subject. However, I keep running into them on other episode list discussion pages, none of which provide a 'final' answer on the matter. Moreover/ consensus on the rule-appliance seems to be that the images could/should stay. Since Im relatively new here; how does one go about this?-Catneven 09:50, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- I am assuming there is a lot of discussion about this in the archives of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television/Episode lists. You can ask about anything you are unsure of there, and I encourage you to participate in that project if you wish to work on more TV related articles too. Regarding this list in particular, I really don't know. I wish the editor that got rid of the pictures would have stopped by here to better explain his position. Anyways, you can look at Wikipedia:Featured lists#Media to see lists that the wider community has agreed are the best on Wikipedia. nadav 19:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Hey, who is creating this list? It's worng the episode order!
editHey there! Is there anybody there? I don't think so. Who knows who is creating/editing this list of episodes, this is not the right order. Maybe it's the dvd order, but then create a page about the episode order in dvd's of tv series!!! Right now we're enjoying La Femme Nikita in A&E, and the second episode is Friend, not Charity. And Friend you are puting it as #5. What's wrong with you???? Please, change it, try get info from REAL La Femme Nikita fans.
I'll do it, if I knew how.Codeweaponx 01:01, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- Tone it down, please. I don't know why it has been changed back to dvd order. But since you can also find the edit button for the talk page you will also be more than likely to edit the page itself...-Catneven 10:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Non-existent and improper sourcing?
editThis article is not properly sourced according to policies and guidelines in Wikipedia:Reliable sources; WP:Attribution; WP:Cite. It needs to follow Wikipedia format: see Wikipedia:Manual of Style. A reliable published source (not a self-published website or fansite, which are not acceptable acc. to Wikipedia:Reliable sources) is Christopher Heyn, "How to Watch La Femme Nikita: A Recommended Viewing Guide for All Five Seasons", in Inside Section One: Creating and Producing TV's La Femme Nikita (Los Angeles: POV Press, 2006) 390-91. The book is only available from POV Press (See its FAQ). Its "Appendix: Data Retrieval & Verification" inc. this sec. There is a substantial headnote in it: "... Below is a season-by-season list of all 96 La Femme Nikita episodes. While the suggested order bears some similarities to the original USA Network airing schedule, there are signficant differences which are explained at the end of each list." (References are included in the article La Femme Nikita (TV series).)
Wikipedia requires reliable and verifiable sources for articles. References to self-published websites and fansites are not considered reliable and verifiable sources and Wikipedia also has a policy prohibiting "original research": WP:NOR. Wikipedia is not a fansite for TV series; it is an encyclopedia. Please follow its policies and guidelines. - The IMDB listing for LFN (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118379/) provides first airing date for each episode; however, the IMDB is a source that depends on contributions from users of the site, and it needs to be verified with other published sources (official website of the series and published studies--there are multiple books on the series that can be cited as sources. [Wikipedia articles do not "reinvent the wheel" WP:NOR; they cite reliable verifiable published sources accessible to all readers: please see: Wikipedia:Reliable sources#What is a reliable source? and WP:NOR#Primary, secondary, and tertiary sources.]) The list of episodes in this Wikipeida article still needs to give the first airing date for each episode and to follow that information with a citation to the source of the information. Such reliable and verifiable sources are accessible to readers through publications, and they need to be cited throughout this article. --NYScholar 21:58, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
