Edits to Kamilya and Wellsley

Wellsley wasn't "consumed" in the destruction of Halo, he was destroyed when Lt. Mckay destroyed the Truth and Reconciliation to prevent the Flood from escaping Halo. And Kamilya's statement was all wrong. Only "Smart" A.I.'s are created from human brains and only Dr. Hasley has used a clone brain; the other's being of dying people and such. Fixed

I took out the bit about the Heretic Leader possibley recovering 343 Guilty Spark from 04's wreckage. This is very unlikley, as at the end of the game we see 343-GS wizzing through space, laughing. It is more likely that he merely traveled to the facility or Installation 05. -NLUT

Question

"I heard that, jackass!" (over the intercom, to a marine who says, "Dear Sarge, having a lovely time kicking ass in outer space. Wish you were here!")

When does this scene/comment happen in the game? Any info will help. - Disgruntled player

The Delta Halo level right after you get a warthog and then go and kill the 4 jackal snipers after you leave the first area. When jackals are dead, the line you mention will play.

THe whole thing is: ODST: Woah...looks like a postcard... Dear Sarge, kicking ass in outer space, wish you were here. Johnson: I heard that, jackass!

Quotes

Shouldn't we move the Quotes to Wikiquote? It does have a section on Halo already: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Halo

Killing Tartarus

The beam rifle isnt the only way to take out Tartarus' shield at least not on the normal setting. I hit him with plasma grenades to temporarily take down the shields then unloaded on him with a brute plasma rifle. It only took two cycles of this to finish him off. - Jordan

Cortana and the Gravemind; ooh la la

At the end of the Gravemind's section, there's a paragraph about it and Cortana. The paragraph begins "his interest in her, besides her much improved body rendering, is unknown". Is this implying that the Gravemind thinks Cortana is "hot" based on her holographic projection? That's some funny stuff. This isn't a criticism; I just wanted to share. ;-) - NormanEinstein 13:58, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hmm. The entire section about the Gravemind seems to have been copied verbatim from here. The corny line about Cortana's body rendering made me suspicious. Anyone feel like rewriting it? --NormanEinstein 17:09, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Is there anyone willing to rewrite it?--Zxcvbnm 00:36, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
As a halo fanboy I'll rewrite it.Infernomaster01

Captain Keyes

Do you think we could get a better picture of captain keys? maybe a real screenshot instead of a picture of a doll or a random character model or whatever that is? If no one else can find it perhaps i can take a screenshot from halo pc. Bonus Onus 03:31, Apr 10, 2005 (UTC)

A screenshot would be a good idea; go for it. --NormanEinstein 04:31, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Gravemind quote

" This one [Master Chief] is machine and nerve, and has his mind concluded. " When you watch the cinematic, it sounds more like gravemind says "congluted", not "concluded". Dstarisbeastin 21:16, July 17, 2005 (UTC)

He says "deluded", not "concluded". -Alex, 12.220.157.93 09:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC).

He says concluded for the Master Cheif and deluded for the Arbiter: "This one [the Master Cheif] is machine and nerve, and has its mind concluded. This one [the Arbiter] is but flesh and faith, and is the more deluded."

Sgt Johnson

Actually, I think the reason that Sgt Johnson always appears to survive is that he is, in fact, one of a set of clones ;)

On the first "Rescue the Marines" mission in Halo 1, I made a special point of not only ensuring Sgt Johnson survived, but also taking him with me in the Warthog.

In one of the later "Rescue the Marines" missions on the same level, I found another Sgt Johnson (armed with a sniper rifle), and picked him up as well.

So I then managed to play out the rest of that level with two wisecracking Sgt Johnsons riding alongside me in my Warthog.

(exhausted sigh) Hehhhhh your in game experiences have nothing to do with the main story. -- Psi edit

Sgt. Johnson of course is one of the main storline charecters. Even though he can dye in halo 1 and not halo 2 is because bungie wanted to make the game realestic and not have you guessing on why this guy is so important to the storyline that they had to make him invinciable.

He will always survive in canon, Bungie's word.

Sgt. Johnson does not kill Jenkins, as Jenkins (in Flood Combat form) is captured by Marines for study in the novel Halo: The Flood, it could not be Mendoza either, as he is killed by the Master Cheif in Halo: The Flood. The only other named Marine present at the time was Bisenti, but the dead marine who collapses onto the Cheif in the ciematic had his clothing, so its likely it was just an unnamed Marine. BritBoy 23:02, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Covenant Spec-Ops commander

Can we really say that he was on the first Halo just because he knows what the Flood smell like? The gas giant level makes it clear that the Flood aren't just on the Halos, it may be that he was involved in an operation on an altogether different Forerunner installation.

The Halo Graphic Novel solves this by providing a story about the Spec-Ops commander showing that he fought them on a Covenant agricultural ship which was invaded by the Flood. This is also how he lost his left two mandibles (giving him the nickname 'half-jaw' among fans). BritBoy 23:02, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Steamy CovenantXhuman

does anyone else feel that the section regarding Sarge Johnson and Half-Jaw should be reworded, it currently seems to suggest something a little dirty.

Voice Actors

I'm not certain who originally put it there, but Johnson was voiced by Phil LaMarr and not Orlando Jones.

err no he wasnt, he was voiced by david scully

Foe Hammer

There are 3 female humans on Halo Combat Evolved, not 2: - The lifepod polit that takes the MC down to Halo but dies on impact of the crashlanding of the lifepod. -Foe Hammer herself, and -Cortana. Winxptwker 07:02, 23 April 2006 (UTC)winxptwker

Zuka Zamamee

Since Orna 'Fulsamee was mentioned on this page, shouldn't Zuka Zamamee (the elite who is saved by Yayap the Grunt in the book 'The Flood') be put in as well? He seemed like a pretty big charcter in the book.

Why not?--Zxcvbnm 02:20, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Sgt. Johnson

He's black, not "african american". This politically correct bullcrap is starting to compromise the integrity of articles. Unless you can prove somewhere that he is of both American and African descent, don't even bother. How do we know he's not Jamaican, or from Trinidad, The Dominican? You don't. Ethnic lines most certainly suffer a blurring in Science fiction. If you can't use a word right, don't use it! --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 04:06, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Note: Taken from the African American article.

An African American is a U.S. citizen who is socially perceived as being at least part black, especially one with ancestors imported to America during slavery. Most African Americans have European, Native American and/or Asian ancestry as well. Blacks from non-African countries such as Haiti, Cuba, or the Dominican Republic and blacks who voluntarily migrated from Africa are sometimes referred to by their nation of origin and not African American, but in general the cultural assumption in the U.S. is that if a person is black, native English-speaking and living in the United States, he or she is "African American".

Is sarge a US citizen? Does are we sure he descended from united states citizenship with an african background. NO. Give it a break. If the two or three people who are pressing this and other like them could find something more useful rather than nitpick towards politically correctnes (incorrectly I might add) wikipedia might actually make some real progress once in a while. Also note that my use of the word "idiot term" in the edit summary is not directed at any user, but at the phrase itself and the immense idiocy that surrounded its inception and still surrounds its everyday use.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 04:09, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

There may very well be no America in the sense of an established government. The UN/SC apparently is the unified goverment of earth. It is possible that while the actual continent of the America exists, no independent government exists. This makes the argument of whether he is "african american" entirely moot as there is no America. It would be like expressing your origins. Today I would say I am from America, but wouldn't say what state or city. In the Halo universe, you would say you are from Terra (earth), Reach, or Harvest. Getting into nations and the sort would be overly specific. Of course, I could be completely wrong, just my two cents worth. Razer of Chaos 23:56, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, everyone in the Halo games refer to the planet as "Earth", so I'd hazard a guess that you'd not say you were from Terra (though they might call it that in the novels, which I haven't read. Are they any good?--Raguleader 22:41, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

lolz half jaw

i havent read teh book but is that half jaw supposed to be invincible? i knocked him over cliffs and he doesnt die lmao

btw this phrase is wrong: However, if enough Flood infection forms attach themselves to him, then he will run around in pain for a moment or so, then jump very high off-screen and disappear. This usually takes five or more infection forms. on lvl oracle i killed all teh grunts and elites and went to teh green room and then i hide and saw 20 little poppers going on him and all he goes is cry. i think the person who wrote it mistaken it with the non godly white elites, i recommend removal

also some of the things r wrong like the hammer of tarturus cant 1hit pk white elite, and if u use a banshee it doesnt do anything. gee have u ppl even studies the game properly?

One thing you should study properly is the ability to spell.

A Banshee can be used to kill tartarus quite easily, his hammer kills everything in one hit (on legendary anyway, I can't speak for other difficulties) and the reason he is invincible is because he's an important character, you can't have him die and then appear in the next cutscene, like Sergeant Johnson. Also a spelling lesson is advisable. --James086 09:35, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

the Add-on to YapYap?

"However, he crashed inside the ship and encountered massive Flood resistance. Trapped in a tight corridor, Yayap miraculously fended of an entire mob of Flood. However, realizing the ship was going to explode and there was no escape Yayap became temporarily insane repeating the phrase, “its a good thing they got them food nipples back at the ship, cuz' man, have I worked up a grunty thirst!”. It was when the Master Chief escaped on the Pillar of Autumn that he met Yayap on a shortcut, most likely killing Yayap to put him out of his misery. Yayap can be seen in the video game in the final level "The Maw". Yayap is located on the escape run on an adjacent corridor. (Right before the part where the Master Chief must clear the large gap.) It is from their that you will hear his famous quote."

This isn't what happened, i will delete this, and replace it. If i am wrong, please prove it and then edit it.

I would like to say that Yayap does not say this, but in fact this is a line in Halo. The "Food Nipple Grunt" does exist - and the exact line is "its a good thing they got them food nipples back at the ship, cuz' man, have I worked up a BIG, grunty THIRST!" --71.230.37.43 04:58, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Experience Problems

I have found that we have a great deal of problems with people not doing what I have done as an idle fanboy, and what many hundreds of others do to analyze the plot for fun. There is an entire site devoted to just Halo's plot, which I reccomend you study, as well as two wonderful learning programs available for the Xbox. Please, take some time to familiarize yourself with the plot and all of the little dialogue snippets that are relevant before you make decisions on whether material is relevant. If it weren't one o'clock I'd do something serious in this article. --71.230.37.43 05:19, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Character cutbacks

Do we really need to list every minor Marine character on this page? While I'm for keeping some Marines, especially important ones like Jenkins and Locklear, the minor ones, such as Dubbo, Perez, and maybe even Stacker and Banks may need to be removed. Peptuck 15:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Why

Orna 'Fulsamee

Wasn't Orna 'Fulsamee also the Arbiter? In the cutscene at the beginning of Halo 2, he mentions how he "followed with all the ships in [his] command" but he didn't fire on the Pillar of Autumn, which is why he was branded with the Mark of Shame, sentenced to death with his intestines paraded about the court, became the Arbiter, etc. Wendt 22:26, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

That's what I said - but it's never really been "proven". There's a kind of confusion between whether 'Fulsamee, the Elite that MC kicked out of Ascendant Justice and the Arbiter are all the same person... and based on the books, they probably are. Bronzey 07:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Halo Graphic Novel has confirmed that they aren't. The Arbiter is the Supreme Commander of the Fleet of Particular Justice, which had arrived at Halo at about the time of the events of 343 Guilty Spark. Therefore, he cannot be Orna 'Fulsamee or the Elite the Chief kicked off the AJ's bridge. Peptuck 18:50, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
But how can that be possible? If you watch the first cutscene of Halo 2, it shows an Elite Commander (the one who eventually becomes the Arbiter) being questioned by the Prophets. Looking at some of the dialogue, it seems as if his fleet arrived at the start of Halo 1:

ELITE COMMANDER: It (The Pillar of Autumn) fled, as we set fire to their planet. But I followed with all the ships under my command. Looking at the quote above, it seems as if he was present when the Covenant glassed Reach, witnessed the PoA's jump, and immediately followed, which would indicate that he was part of the fleet which ambushed the PoA at Halo.

PROPHET OF TRUTH: When you first saw Halo, were you blinded by its majesty? Clearly states that it is the first time the Commander has seen Halo, linking to the next point.

PROPHET OF TRUTH: Yet the humans were able to evade your ships, land on the sacred ring, and desecrate it with their filthy footsteps!? How can the humans have had to "evade his ships" if he had not been present during the events of the Pillar of Autumn level?

ELITE COMMANDER: Noble hierarchs, surely you understand that once the parasite attacked- Somewhat ambiguous, but looking at this quote makes you think that he was there long before the release of the Flood, perhaps to the point of suddenly witnessing them as a never before seen foe - which he would not have been if he had arrived during 343 GS. 218.208.220.31 12:24, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

He does not have to have been present to have his ships evaded or to have his fleet present at the ring in the first place; however, the HGN is notably ambigious about this, as 'Kusovai does simply say that "Hopefully we will at last go to Halo" which could be interpreted as being en route or already there and undeployed. regardless, Supreme Commander cannot be Orna 'Fulsamee; 'Fulsamee is a Ship Master, while the Supreme Commander is, well, a Supreme Commander. Merge of Sergeant Johnson

I put a merge tag on Sergeant Johnson's article. If someone can condense his summary, it's feasible to fit him here. — TKD::Talk 00:23, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

What would be the reasoning behind the merge? The amount of data and speculation pertaining to him alone justifies a separate article for the character even if he was of minor importance in the games' storyline. There's just too much there to condense without loosing a lot of data. NeoSuplex 23:44, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

That's the thing, though. Speculation is original research, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. It'd be much better to condense the plot summary a bit and put that information here, rather than in a separate article. — TKD::Talk 23:56, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, I disagree with the merge. The goal is not to condense all of the information on wikipedia into as few articles as possible. Johnson merits his own article, and if you read it, most of it is not speculation (although I agree that the speculation should be cut down). M412k 08:08, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Merge of Tartarus

Tartarus (Halo) is up for deletion. I think it might be good to retain the content of the article in this section. Any thoughts? -- Ben (talk) 17:39, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Tarterus is a main character in the Halo Series (well ok, Halo 2) I think we should have an article about him.Connah117 16:16, 11 January 2007

You might find yourself in the minority on that one... The Tartarus article is about to be deleted. Is there anyone else out there that thinks that there should be a Tartarus article? Anyone willing to post in the AfD discussion? -- Ben (talk) 22:43, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Cutting down the article

Hello. During the AfD on Cortana, it has several times been mentioned that this article be cut severely and most now included character simply be removed. I suggest removal of the following:

Any thoughts? Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 19:58, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

I would say that it'd be etter to cut down the summary for each character and maintain the breadth of the list. A list should describe or at least mention every character, per WP:FICT. Not every character needs a long description. — TKD::Talk 04:49, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Uh. What part of WP:FICT says every character ought to be mentioned? It only says Minor characters in a work of fiction should be merged with short descriptions into a "List of characters." To me, that doesn't look like we should include all of them - only merge those we want included into one article. And hey, List of Star Trek characters doesn't mention every single redshirt, does it? Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 17:51, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Hmm.. At one point in its history, WP:FICT recommended that such a list be comprehensive. That was removed at some pointy, probably for the better. And you do have a good point. — TKD::Talk 21:07, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Probably for the better indeed. In fact, I do think it should be specificially mentioned in WP:FICT that not all minor characters HAVE to be included. You wouldn't mind adding your support for any deletions above? (And here comes my first use of my new, fancy, signature!) Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 21:25, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm not as familiar with the novels that apparently provide a lot of the additional characters. I've been thinking about this further, and one counter-argument to omitting certain characters is that it causes the list to meet one of the featured list criteria (not that this list is anywhere close to that standard, but it's something to shoot for in the long run). A relevant model to follow here might be the List of Metal Gear Solid characters, which was recently promoted as featured list. However, I think that a compromise might be to give only recurring (or major) characters each their own section, and to compress the less notable characters into a single section or table where each only receives a couple of sentences or so. Or perhaps organize this by work, if necessary. Either way, it's definitely true that 2401 Penitent Tangent shouldn't be given as much weight as the Master Chief, but I think putting a brief mention of minor characters (however the distinction is objectively determined) that clearly marks them as such might work.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not an inclusionist, but I like to explore other options (including condensation or reorganization) first. After all, this a list a Halo characters, not a list of recurring characters or a list of notable characters (which would be hard to define objectively). So another option arises if there's a consensus to rename this list to make it more exclusionary, but objectively so. In this sense, the Star Trek list that you referred to above is probably better titled List of recurring Star Trek characters.
I'm not convinced that simply restricting this list to recurring characters makes it useful, at least until Halo 3 is released; otherwise, one of the protagonists and player characters of Halo 2, the Arbiter, is omitted. So, can anyone come up with an objective inclusion criterion that makes sense? — TKD::Talk 05:28, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Some of your selections are valid, however many have important roles in the books and games. I suggest, from the above, deleting Chief Petty Officer Franklin Mendez, Locklear, Banks, Endless Summer, Eternal Spring, Deep Winter, and the rest of the AIs besides Cortana. Foehammer and Harper are also possible, but less definite. Dåvid ƒuchs(talk • contribs) 19:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Eh, I added your signature to those you agreed with in order to make it easier to see which removals are supported and which are not. And my own name of course. Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 20:03, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
I'd oppose removing Mendez outright; he is a moderately important recurring character, at least on the same level as, say, Hood. I'm actually opposed to deleting any of these characters, but a major condensation is acceptable in my eyes. Definitely get rid of most of the text involving the minor named Marines, for example, but AIs with small roles can possibly be condensed, with highlights explaining why they were important enough to rate mentioning within Halo's storyline.
I do not see how we can justify removal of important characters like Hood, Miranda, Heretic Leader, 2401 PT, or Spec Ops, nor characters with significant focus within a particular work such as Zuka, Yayap, or Kurt. However, we should remove unnecessary information regarding them and do a little more out-of-universe work. Peptuck 04:02, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Remember: cutting down cruft is all well and good, but this *is* a reference source, after all. Let's please actually leave material to reference. We should get rid of what is unnedded but we should not remove minor characters. No part of WP:FICT or Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) endorses the outright removal of minor characters. Peptuck 04:05, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Why don't we just cut down on any one who doesn't contribute verbally to the continuation of the plot. If the voice actor didn't have lines that actively contributed to furthering the story, then it should go. If a character's name is mentioned, they say a few battle cries, then die in the next scene, they definitely should not be included. There has to be some objective way of deciding whether a characters VO contributes to the plot. // 3R1C 23:28, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

As long as it doesn't mess up their current catagorization. Its very useful within the article to have the different members of the different groups gathered together. Proposed Total Cleanup

Okay, now that we've got Halo 2 up to FA, I see this article as being our top priority in terms of importance (besides the other character articles). I've begun sourcing, making oou edits and such, but things I see that need work on (besides grammar, etc.):

  • Lead- we got nothing. Who designed the characters at Bungie? What about them? Stuff like that.
  • Non-universe commentary- Has Steve Downes ever talked about being the voice of Master Chief? Would the article be helped by adding this info in?
  • Sourcing!!!- Lots of this article I will not be able to source, unless one of you guys sends over the Halo novels by USPS. Certain characters (such as Pete Stacker) could be for all I know (and I suspect) nothing but unsupported cruft- and not having the books, I can't confirm. Also, Sesa ‘Refumee's section is overly long and mostly fabricated, as I don't beleve the heretic leader made an appearance besides Halo 2.
  • Shorten names- No one needs to know Ship Ops/Spec Ops in the title. This could be contentious and annoying, but I believe it's for the best if we strip the ranks from name headings. Not only does this shorten the TOC at top, its much easier to link in. Admittedly, this will cause redlinks, but I think its for the best. I'll await input on this case.
  • (added) Correct Tense - this was confusing, but to everyone involved, it would be best if we did not use past tense. Like they say for book reports, treat the work like its own frame. So "Jenkins was turned into a flood form" would be "Jenkins is turned into a flood form". 22:05, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Questions/comments/concerns, put 'em here. Dåvid Fuchs (talk / frog blast the vent core!) 18:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

A quick point: Sesa 'Refumee's background is stated on the Joyride Studios action figure box, which is material direct from Bungie. His section still needs to be cut down, but it is factually accurate with Halo canon. I think the information can be found on Joyride Studios' website, in the Halo figures section. Peptuck 18:51, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
I searched for their site, and I'm getting redirects to a model page... they may have been hacked or something. Either way, it's unavailable. I downloaded a copy of The Flood off Demonoid, and I believe I'm almost done finishing with using it as a source, then I'll get rid of it. Minor characters

Polaski, Tom, Haverson, and the like have very, very little plot impact, unlike someone like Locklear who actually did something major in the plot of First Strike. If we went and had an entry for every minor character this article would be a bloated mess. Peptuck 04:52, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Indeed. Zuka and Yayap are there, though wether they should is up in the air. As for the rest, they are commented out... David Füchs (talk / frog blast the vent core!) 23:34, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Zuka 'Zamamee
  • Voro 'Mantakree

  • I recommend the contributors rename the article to "Characters of the Halo series" or something like that; this article style isn't really considered list-style anymore. — Deckiller 18:24, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

his death in the article is not possible —Preceding unsigned comment added by Agentheartlesspain (talkcontribs)

First off, please please please sign your name with four tildes. Secondly, how is it not possible? The book doesn't lie. David Fuchs (talk / frog blast the vent core!) 20:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Considering the novel says he broke his neck after getting blown up by two frag grenades followed by a fusion detonation of the Pillar's engine core not five minutes later, I'd say the odds are excessively good that Zuka is on the Great Journey. Peptuck 20:52, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

sry about the ~ On this elevator is a Shade turret, a few Grunts who helped wrestle it aboard and one Spec Ops Elite, who is 'Zamamee. In the novel, 'Zamamee meets his demise when Cortana drops the lift he is on, which is followed by a rain of grenades by the Chief. This kills the Grunts and sends the Elite out of the turret and into the air, giving him one last look at the Chief before falling to his death

the lift dropped then the frags fell on him that somehow blew him up to see the masterchief that part is not possible from what i remeber its he yelled looked a the grunts then the frags came down after being rolled and then he saw his paradise if he broke his neck it be rather hard for him to see the masterchief and actually to get the height with frags is off Agentheartlesspain 22:24, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Ahem; this is the page:

“No!”he shouted, sure that one of the Grunts was responsible for the sudden movement, and desperate lest the human escape his clutches. But it was too late, and there was nothing the smaller aliens could do, as the elevator continued to fall. Then, even as his target vanished from sight, and ’Zamamee railed at his subordinates, a couple of grenades tumbled down from above, rattled around the floor, and exploded. The force of the blast lifted the Elite up and out of his seat, gave him one last look at his opponent, and let him fall. He hit with a thud, felt something snap, and waited for his first glimpse of paradise. Cortana drops the lift, chief drops grenades, gets forced outta of his seat, sees his quarry, falls and dies. Nothing else needs to be said. David Fuchs (talk / frog blast the vent core!) 22:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Lordhoodhalo.JPG

Image:Lordhoodhalo.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:52, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

one more thing

The one thing besides the aforementioned sourcing we need in the this is to expand the lead; in other words, we need out of universe information such as who designed the characters, etc. Problem is, Bungie's never explicitly stated who did what. I think in the "Making of Halo 2" feature that shipped with Halo it noted the character designer, but should we just credit the design lead (Jason Jones, I believe) with the creation? Consider alphabatizing this

It is completely random, only put in a couple categories, so have like...you know A characters B characters etc. I would but I'm not overly familiar with Wikipedia.

Characters are organized based on prominience and importance within the Halo series. That's why the Master Chief and Johnsoin are at the top of the UNSC section, and Cortana is at the top of the AI section, etc. Peptuck 01:57, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Backwash entity: 2401 Penitent Tangent or 343 Guilty Spark?

In the 2401 Penitent Tangent section, it is stated that it is the entity heard/seen on the Backwash multi-player map. Is there a source for that? The reason I ask is because I always assumed it was 343 Guilty Spark. I assume that because the map is very similar to the level "343 Guilty Spark" in the first Halo game. It is similar enough where I think it's safe to say that Backwash is definitely a direct interpretation of that level (The tower structure in the middle of the multi-player map is nearly identical to the tower in the "343 Guilty Spark" level of Halo 1, where you meet 343 Guilty Spark for the first time). --Nic.stage 04:13, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

It appears to be like GS, but remember that all Halo 2 multiplayer maps take place on Delta Halo, so we can assume that the swamp is simple a doppleganger to the swamp on Installation 04. As for Tangent, it has to be him, as its the red eyed one and not blue like 343. David Fuchs 18:20, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
I see. The red eye thing pretty much proves it's PT (I hadn't noticed that before, because I'm too busy getting killed because I can't see anything). Where is it stated that all of the Halo 2 multiplayer maps take place on Delta Halo? --Nic.stage 13:27, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Reading some of the descriptions implies strongly that they're on Delta Halo. Not to mention Relic or whatever the beach one is, there's a UNSC ship there, and it basically has to be from In Amber Clad. Oh yeah, and the one with the relay station, its explicitly stated that it has keep Delta Halo functioning. David Fuchs 13:29, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Rtas Vadume AKA Half Jaw

Okay quick tally of votes becuase i've repeatably tried to come to final conclusion on this as some know rtas vadume's fan name which he is most recongnized and known for (HALF-Jaw) is not noted in the title name. Now normaly i wouldnt bother with this sort of thing but i know from personal experience on the matter when i first set out to look for HALF JAW not rtas Vadume due to the fact that the title Rtas is given to him in the books and no person who does not read the books knows that name, Spent many hours hunting. So my proposal is to place the name half jaw next to his offical name so that others who are hunting far and wide for his article can find it. please comment and give thoughts and vote whether or not it should be changed.. danieljackson 14:03, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Simply pu: "Half-jaw" is a fan name. 'Rtas is his canon name. The canon name is the only one that counts, and he's referred to as 'Rtas on all pages on this Wiki.
You said it yoursef; Half Jaw is a fan name, not the official designation of his character. Should we start referring to Master Chief as "MC" or Gravemind as "Gravy" or the Arbiter as "Arby"? Those are fan-names too. Peptuck 21:23, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Sergeant Stacker

This guy's canon, and he's been in all the Halo games to date. How come he isn't in this?--149.130.204.62 16:03, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Just because he's a canon character doesn't mean he is significant enough to include in here. Is he a significant character beyoind his amusing one-liners? Does he ever do anything even remotely important to the story beyond spout ing a few random bits of storyline dialogue and serving as another of many Marines you encounter during regular gameplay? Peptuck 17:28, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Usze and N'tho

Their bios are copied directly from the Bungie announcement. They need to be rewritten to avoid copyvio. Userpietalk to me! 00:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
