Talk:Line (unit)

The unit symbol of line is commonly written as triple prime mark(‴). This should be added in the article.2001:14BA:15FB:4A00:829:2079:353F:6CA9 (talk) 07:11, 20 October 2015 (UTC)HarriReply

About the "Paris line" edit

This was a "Distinguish" tag -- I just changed to a better worded hatnote. But I wonder if it is necessary at all? There is a section listing various foreign "line" units, of which this is but one. Perhaps the hatnote should be removed? Imaginatorium (talk) 10:48, 3 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

About the Russian one... edit

The Russian line (линия) is given as 1/10 of a "diuym". This is actually дюйм, which WP rules say should be transliterated as dyuym. But the entry at Wiktionary uses djujm. Either is probably preferable to Cardarelli's version -- and the 'dyuym' version is at least widely used in the title of the film known as "The last inch". It is unlikely that more of these versions will get WP pages, so perhaps there should be Wiktionary links, but I'm not sure of the best way to do this.
