Merging edit

I suggest a speedy merging of this article with Aarhus Docklands. The Light House project is not notable enough to fill an entire article on its own. Everything can be explained equally well in a section on Aarhus Docklands if needed.

Is the skyscraper definitely cancelled? - Gavleson (talk) 00:41, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
What does that have to do with merging? RhinoMind (talk) 03:08, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
It might make the project more notable. Do you always answer a question with another question, or was this a sensitive issue for some inexplicable reason? Gavleson (talk) 08:44, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I can answer your question for sure, but as my "question to your question" suggested, I was clueless as to what it had to do with the issue of merging. And I still am. Therefore I have started a new section below this one to address it. RhinoMind (talk) 21:08, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
On merging. The tower project will not make the page more notable. Why would you think that? The Lighthouse project is only one among many building projects in Aarhus Docklands. Most are of similar - some greater - importance. Information on all these projects can all fit well into the article on Aarhus Docklands. RhinoMind (talk) 21:20, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
A tower 140 m tall would be notable, as it would be the tallest building in Denmark. It would also be the 2nd tallest residential tower and 3rd tallest building overall in Scandinavia. But since the project have been called off, no new information has popped up, and nothing has happened for years, I do not have a problem with the proposed merger... Hi. Ok I see your point now. If anything of that height is ever constructed at the site, we can separate info on Light House from the Aarhus Dockland article for sure. I have tried to supply more information on the project now and I must say that it probably has enough notability already, as "the biggest joke in construction in Denmark in the 2010s". :-) RhinoMind (talk) 23:56, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

  Done

Hello. The tower project is up and running again it appears. Nothing has been built yet, but there are new plans for a lower type of tower with another design. With time it might be relevant to resurrect this page and move information from the Aarhus Docklands article. RhinoMind (talk) 19:51, 13 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

New information can be found here: Bugtcentret (in Danish). It is supposed to be 128 metres tall and will again be Denmarks tallest building if that happens. The project is known as Bugtcentret (The Bay Center) and is (at the moment) planned to be finished in 2020. In the light of this, it might be a bit premature to start moving things just yet. The tower edit

User:Gavleson wish to discuss the tower (see section on "Merging" above), so I have started a section to adress this issue. RhinoMind (talk) 21:11, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

According to the article, the original Phase 2 of the Lighthouse project was abandonned early on for economical reasons apparently. Phase 2 included a high tower.

Hello Gavleson. I have info on the issue and here goes: As the project has proceeded, Phase 1 has been completed and most of the apartments are now occupied. The site intended for the tower, had proved to be too unstable to sustain such a large project. The tower would simply sink into the ground. This has been explained in local media as the primary reason for not constructing. There is no information on whether this has only put the tower project in hiatus or cancelled it definitely. RhinoMind (talk) 21:17, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
On the word and term "definitely". This term is hard to handle, because enough money, enough will, enough enthusiasm, etc, can move mountains. If someone really really wants a tower at the Lighthouse, they could of course stabilize the construction ground enough for it to support a tower of that size. It would however require a very large sum of money. I would say the tower is "definitely" cancelled, but who knows? RhinoMind (talk) 21:28, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Personal comment: I have been interested in the tower issue, because I find it hilarious, if not sad, that noone checked the construction site properly before launching the Lighthouse project. It is really really bad engineering. Incredibly bad. Perhaps just bad management, I dont know. I am Aarhusian myself and the whole story made me shake my head. Another good "Aarhus-story" (if you ever heard about them?) :-) RhinoMind (talk) 21:28, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
