Original Plantation
editAccording to an article on NCPEDIA, Kenan, Thomas S., III (1988). "James Kenan". NCPEDIA. Retrieved October 16, 2019.{{cite web}}
: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link), "James Kenan, colonial and state official and Revolutionary officer, was born at his father's plantation, The Lilacs, in Turkey, N.C., the oldest son of Thomas and Elizabeth Johnston Kenan."
Currently, Turkey, North Carolina is in Sampson County.
I don't have access to the Liberty Hall archives. Someone who does should look this up to straighten out the builders of the original plantation and where it was located. I am trying to straighten out these entries on the List of plantations in North Carolina.
