When I came to this page, it was empty but with a note that an old version of the page had been deleted in 2009. Why this was, I do not know, for I never saw it. This one is compiled mainly from the German Wikipedia page, and I have looked up several sources and added what references I could. It looks as if Caley is the real source for most discussion, tho. Moses in P. Leiden X

R. Patai writes that this papyrus "list Moses among the twenty-six 'philosophers of the divine science and art'" (p.33), quoting Berthelot and Ruelle, Collection des alchimistes grecs, vol.1, p.110-11 and 271. I could not find the reference in Berthelot-Ruelle nor could I find any mention of Moses in the edition of Leiden X by R. Halleux so I decided to remove the mention about Moses in the article.
On that note, R. Patai also writes that the "Domestic Chemistry of Moses" ("Chimie de Moïse" in Berthelot-Ruelle) is found in the third-century papyrus W of Leiden. It is in fact found in the 13th cent. Parisinus Graecus 2327 (=A in modern editions of the Greek alchemical corpus). P. Leid. W is the "Eight book of Moses", edited in the K.
