GA Reassessment edit

As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles' Project quality task force, I am re-reviewing this article to ensure compliance with current good article criteria. I have determined that it doesn't meet criteria for the reasons outlined below and needs a bit of work.

  • Lead does not adequately cover the entire article (WP:LEAD);
  • Not broad in coverage; in a seemingly recurring theme, the only reception info is a bunch of "top x" website listings only found in the lead. There's very little about his culture impact and, indeed, why any reader should give a hoot about the subject matter. Where's the relevance?
  • Excessive detail is found in "Fictional Character Biography", as well as undue weight; the last twenty years are given five times as much text as the previous fifty. It needs to be massively cut down and rewritten.
  • Speaking of needing to be rewritten, the entire article is inaccessible to non-fans and needs to seriously recast. For example the whole Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline is never explained. Cut down on the fan details and hit only the broad strokes. Otherwise readers are going to drowning in trivial details.
  • There as {{fact}} tag in the article, which is clearly deserved.
  • There are seven nonfree images in the article, and most don't meet our nonfree content criteria as there is no critical commentary about them.

Due to the amount of issues I am boldly delisting the article. Remember that you can renominate any time you feel it meets criteria. I don't watchlist old reviews, so direct any comments to my talk page. Thanks, --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:58, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
