Replacement of Parish church image with Cathedral image

I propose we replace the picture of the parish church with the cathedral. Albeit smaller it does have Cathedral status and is ergo probably more significant. Any objections? Mtaylor848 (talk) 18:19, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

As you say, Leeds Cathedral is smaller, has less history and certainly is not more significant in the city than Leeds Parish Church. I object strongly, and as a non Christian have no denominational axe to grind.--Harkey (talk) 18:37, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
The parish church has ancient origins and is a central part of Leeds' history, I can't think of anything more significant. I don't agree wth the proposal.--J3Mrs (talk) 19:26, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
The parish church is a more ancient foundation, a larger building, grade I listed (cathedral is II*), and I suggest is more widely recognised in the city; also plays a part in civic life, with events like http://www.localleeds.com/2011/02/hms-ark-royal-chairs-entrusted-to-leeds-parish-church/. I am also a non-Christian and have no sectarian allegiances. Going on history alone it should probably be St John's on New Briggate. Given the Cathedral has said status I would prefer it to be the included image. I am happy to go with consensus on this one. The alternative could be images of both but I think two Christian churches would show a lack of balance. Mtaylor848 (talk) 10:55, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
