Scott Stapp
- The use of Scott Stapp as a notable alumni for this college seems a bit off to me, but I will add a list of actual, noteworthy alumni shortly. As for now, I will place a reference to a transcript of the VH1 Behind-the-Music Creed special explaining the expulsion reference. Avery W. Krouse 01:59, Mar 6, 2005 (UTC)
Scott Stapp being expelled from Lee University is like their claim to fame. Being a resident of Cleveland for close to 15 years, I have met people that attended while he did.
Equality Ride
Please do not add external links to the Equality Ride website. Unless we're also going to add one to Blood Assurance, people who visit the campus from time to time do not deserve nor mandate external links. Future readditions will be reverted. Remember, Wikipedia is no place to push a POV. --Avery W. Krouse 19:29, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
there was a section about equality ride on campus thats why the link was up there but the school administrators censured the wiki site to take anything negitive about the school off the site —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.14.209 (talk) 13:13, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Advocate Newsmagazine
Considering what I've just seen on Viacom's Cbs' Logo|Logo (TV channel)'s Advocate Newsmagazine, Directtv #263, there should be much more regarding homosexuality than "Among these restrictions, most notable are a no substance policy barring alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs and a complete restriction on premarital sexual behavior and homosexuality."
There should be a school-sexuality page.
Thank You.

Information sidebar
I've updated the university information sidebar to reflect Wikipedia's unified theme for educational institutions.

- Thanks Justius, it looks good. Anthony 20:10, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
_____
I noticed the school colors are listed as Burgundy and Navy Blue, yet, in Firefox, the sample colors show up as Burgundy and White. If Navy Blue is indeed one of the school colors, I don't know if this is a problem with an error in the page (wrong color selected), or possibly it's a problem with the way FF displays it.

Motto
Does Lee have an official motto? I've yet to find one on the website.
Justius 08:31, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think the motto is "Where Christ is King", though I can't find it in print. Anthony 15:46, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Criticism and Scandal
Unless some verification is provided, I will delete the section, Critisism and Scandal, on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Anthony (talk) 23:05, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi i am the person who wrote this part of the page. This is a new breaking news article . Plus i would like to ask why you use the highest level of scrutiny on this section of the lee page. There are countless sections not properly cited on this page and the page of Charles Paul Conn. I think you work with lee to make sure the school does not have a tarnished name. I have noticed countless times people put stuff up on this page that is in a negative manor about lee you block it off the site even if it is properly cited. Then turn around and if it is something good you allow it to be posted with out any sources at all. I see a definite double standard. The Charles Conn page has many high claims not cited why is it not marked for deletion unless cited? I put sources up i hope that is enough to allow this part of the page to stay. Sorry i am not a mod and can censor stuff i do not like to read like you.70.160.14.209 (talk) 13:27, 7 May 2008 (UTC)putle —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.14.209 (talk) 07:40, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it is a conspiracy. Me, Dick Cheney, and Alan McClung have been assigned to a special task force jointly commisioned by Paul Conn, President Bush and Elvis (yes, he's still alive) to protect Lee's name on Wikipedia. PC's connections run deep, very very deep. Anthony (talk) 00:06, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have deleted the unreferenced section as promised. The links provided were either internal or did not pertain to the subject matter. Anthony (talk) 22:10, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
how did the reffernces not pertain to the subject matter this just goes on to prove that you edit for lee this is an article that is breaking in the chattanooga times free press conn is under investigation by the irs right now i work for lee i should know —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.14.209 (talk) 07:29, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- If what you say is true, then why did you not put a link to this supposed news article then? I edit for myself and the overall betterment of Wikipedia only. Lee just happens to be one of the articles I monitor for inaccuracies. Contributions to this article, as with any Wikipedia article, are acceptable as long as you are making claims that can be proven. If Paul Conn is under investigation by the IRS then undoubtedly there would be some form of proof, some where on the internet you could link to the article. Even if he was under investigation, that information would be something that should be primarily placed on the Paul Conn article, and not Lee's. Anthony (talk) 14:59, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Article Improvement
Since I began improving this article, several other kind editors have helped out as well and it is starting to look a lot better than its former state.
Several things that the article currently needs as a top priority:
- More hi-res thumbnail pictures of the campus, buildings, areas of interest, etc. (Personal photos that can be placed on public domain are preferred obviously because of copyright reasons.)
- Citations and references for the listed material.
- Reference and links cleanup.
- A good proof-read and copy-edit.
- Lets get this article to GA class.
Thanks again and ahead of time for your help. DrNegative (talk) 04:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
In order to fulfill this goal, I think it's worth considering university pages that have achieved Featured Article status. Two good examples are Dartmouth College and Duke University. Please refer to the University Assessment WikiProject for further details. --Justius (talk) 01:06, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Whom is this university named for?
Is Lee University named after anybody, out of curiousity? This could be a useful fun fact for the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.234.207.19 (talk) 18:18, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

"Tunnels of oppression"
Magnolia677 has begun an edit war to add a one-paragraph section about a 2017 campus event about "Tunnels of oppression." In his or her revert, her or she claimed that "This is an annual event" but the paragraph that is being forced into this article is only about a 2017 event. More importantly, it's entirely unclear what encyclopedic value this information has and why it's critical information for readers who want to learn about the history, funding, organization, and every other major aspect of this university. ElKevbo (talk) 23:33, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- WP:UNI/AG#Article structure suggests under "student life" that these sort of annual events are notable. The university felt the event important enough to publish four articles about it in their student newspaper: [1][2][3][4]. "Tunnels of Oppression" is quite popular on US campuses: [5][6][7]. User:ElKevbo, as a US higher education scholar I'm surprised you're not aware of it? Magnolia677 (talk) 00:15, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
- Is your argument that we must include an entire section in this encyclopedia article because the student newspaper published a handful of articles about the event? If so, that seems like a unrealistically low bar for including material in this or any other article.
- And cut out the ad hominem bullshit. You've begun an edit war to include material that so far is only supported by one source, an article that barely focuses on Lee (and does so primarily by quoting a quote from an article written by the student newspaper) and published by a low-quality and biased publication. If this information is so important that it needs to be included in an encyclopedia article then surely you can find reliable sources that clearly identify this information as having critical and lasting importance. We don't include every event that takes place on campus even if some political extremists get upset by some of them. Attacking other editors doesn't change of any that; find some better sources. ElKevbo (talk) 01:14, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
- The edit is supported by four sources: one secondary in the article, and four primary added above. At University of Notre Dame#Student events, their Regatta, Muddy Sunday, Medallion Hunt, Pep Rally, and Chariot Race are all sourced by their school newspaper, so this seems pretty common on university articles. The consensus of editors who created Wikipedia:College and university article advice suggests they support the inclusion of "student life", or they wouldn't have included it in their guidelines. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:25, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
- Poorly sourced information in other articles is irrelevant.
- Please answer the question on the table: Why is this information so important that it needs to be included in an encyclopedia article? And what are readers supposed to learn from it? ElKevbo (talk) 20:11, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
- Your question has been answered. The input of other editors would be helpful. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:27, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- @ElKevbo: Magnolia677 has provided ample evidence supporting the inclusion of some material about the event. You need to learn how to back down from a dispute once presented with additional information, as this has been a pattern for you. Also, your denigration of student media is regrettable and unjustified; per WP:STUDENTMEDIA and WP:NEWSORG, student publications should be judged the same as any other local publication, and this one at first glance seems to be the school's paper of record, so I'm going to presume it's a RS. Now, the paragraph on the event itself isn't very good (e.g. it should talk about the event as an annual event, rather than just the 2017 edition), but our energy would be better spent improving it than arguing here. Sdkb (talk) 20:31, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- I look forward to you and Magnolia677 going through the student newspaper and adding many more of the university's dozens or hundreds of annual events to this article! ElKevbo (talk) 21:10, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
