Incorrect units of measurements cause confusion. edit

Somebody please fix the units of measure CC = Cubic Centimeter (volume), not equivalent to MM - Millimeter (linear measurement).

FYI, remember, The volume or displacement of a cylinder (any cylinder): V = Pi x R^2 x L.

  V = Volume of the cylinder.
  Pi = 3.14... (is ratio of the circumference of any circle to its radius, in this use case the base circle of an engine cylinder, it's bore, divided by two to get the radius.
  R^2 = Radius of the base circle of a cylinder (diameter/2), squared.
  L = Length of the cylinder or in this case the stroke of the engine cylinder.
  Suppose for instance:
  Bore = 80mm, stroke = 74mm, Number of cylinders = 2.

  Volume for both cylinders = (3.14 (unit-less) x 40mm^2 x 74MM X 2 cylinders
  Or simply: 3.14 x 1600 x 74 x 2 = 743,552 mm^2 = 743.6cc
  Convert to cubic centimeters: 743,552 cubic milimeters (mm^2) x .0001 = 743.6 cc (cubic centimeters) engine displacement total for both cylinders.

Engine displacemint is more intuitively known as the piston swept area in the cylinder from TDC to BDC (for all cylinders combined). 2600:1011:A11C:8DC0:9819:58CA:D996:F7F5 (talk) 20:52, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
