Hello! I got this entry created and I am hoping other people with the time and effort and knowledge can make it even more interesting and accurate! Apollo missions section

This uses the movie Apollo 13 as a reference, which doesn't seem like it passes the Reliable Source requirements. Also, these are under the sub-heading of Firing Room Positions, and the list in question was from the Mission Control Center consoles in Houston, and not the KSC Launch Control. The Apollo 13 movie followed the ground control transcripts accurately (Apollo_13_(film)#Technical_accuracy) but I'm not sure if that makes the cut. Theshadow27 (talk) 02:35, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

It might accurately represent what happened in Houston, but, as mentioned by PromptCritical, this is supposed to be an article about Florida. Personally, I don't understand why it would accurately label Houston as one of many check-ins in the shuttle section & then completely ignore that the same is true for the Apollo-era. 2601:248:4000:34DF:9189:1B53:DD6A:AE5 (talk) 00:11, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Merge to "Flight Controller"?

I think we should merge the content of this article into the "Flight Controller" article. That article has all of the flight control positions listed, and better defined and linked than this one does. Plus, there are notable omissions in the lists here. I think the lead section, and the references/links to the audio-video files should be put into a Status Check section on that article. Discuss.... go! :) Go For TLI (talk) 18:57, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Agree - I've added some links to Flight controller but it should really move there. Are there any recordings of apollo preflights on the commons? I'd be glad to add them to the FC article Theshadow27 (talk) 02:35, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Well, I created this entry specifically so people would have an easier time following the Go/No Go polls and running down the list so they could "on the fly" understand what they mean. Wikipedia is meant for everyone to have access to knowledge and this is in the spirit of it. The "Flight Controller" section is too large and technically detailed to fulfill this function. In this section the explanations of each Flight controller position can be one sentence long, while in the Flight Controller entry the descriptions are more detailed. This section is ALSO meant to help people understand dialogue in space movies, so while popular movie dialogue should be included, corrections should be made to help people understand what dialogue is real and what isn't. While I understand the discrepancy between people who consider themselves "Experts" and those of us who are just passing "Fans", I believe it really is important that ordinary people can understand the space operations language used in the USA in a quick and easy way, and Wikipedia is perfect for fulfilling that function. I'll remove the "merge" request unless someone really really believes it should be there, but please understand this entry isn't meant to duplicate the Flight Controller entry, it is meant to specifically address the Go/No Go Poll which is a famous aspect of spaceflight that most Americans are acquainted with.
