An animation showing the progression between each "day" is needed edit

Possible error in construction edit

At day 1, the construction tells you to take a closed unit square of land, and dig a lake (connected and open) such that the remaining land is homeomorphic to a unit square. This is clearly impossible as the remaining land wouldn't be simply connected. Am I missing something?
