Er... bumped 3 times by Jesus? Was Graham Poll umpiring? Blunder Maggie!!!!

If you're talking about the table for the Men's Lents 2006. I suggest you look a bit closer. Bumped by Jesus on the 1st day, bumped Jesus back on the 3rd, and bumped by Jesus again on the last day. Richard B 21:37, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Name of boat club

There seems to be no mention in the history of why the boat club is called "Lady Margaret" rather than "St. John's College Boat Club" like the other colleges. Is the rumour true that John's were banned from having a boat club due to killing a cox with a spear on the bow of their boat during a bumps race? The rumour goes that John's got around the ban by creating a boat club called "Lady Margaret Boat Club". Adw2000 14:17, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

It seems that the Bumps race article states: "One tradition has it that St. John's Boat Club changed its name to Lady Margaret Boat Club after a cox was killed in a bump. This is not true..." Even still it would probably be good to say that this rumour is not true on the LMBC page, and also to explain why it is called Lady Margaret. Adw2000 14:51, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
The following page indicates that the legend has no basis and that the name was to distinguish the club from other boat clubs that were also from St Johns (which no longer exist). --Ozhiker (talk) 13:33, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
I know the English are terrific with slang but what is a "cox"? What does "a cox" stand for in its translation of vocabulary? Maybe the Brits could share that with the rest of the English-speaking world? Stevenmitchell (talk) 02:19, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
See the first entry at cox. - David Biddulph (talk) 07:10, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

Cambridge rumours

I am removing this section. If these are notable rumours that have been discussed in reliable sources then perhaps there is a place for them in the article. But to have an unsourced "rumours" section, carefully making clear that everything in it is false? No. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:28, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

You may be within policy, but I think what you've done [2] degrades the article and removes useful info. The "rumour" is indeed widespread; the reply is of interest. No, I don't know which is true William M. Connolley (talk) 11:18, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

History - Plagiarism

I just want to point out that the opening paragraph of the History section is plagiarized in its entirety and verbatim [1] directly from the website of Lady Margaret Boat Club of Cambridge University, if anyone is interested... Stevenmitchell (talk) 02:16, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
