"Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" - promo or single?

"Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" is certified Gold by the RIAA. How is it possible, if the song wasn't released as a commercial single? Isn't it impossible for a promotional single to get certified Gold by the RIAA? --85.197.50.164 (talk) 23:40, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

It might depend on the certifying body, but I know for RIAA and Music Canada anyway, there is no requirement for being a single to get certified. Any song can technically be certified if it accumulated enough sales and streaming equivalent units. With all album tracks being digitally available, it is not uncommon for songs or promo singles by big-name artists like Gaga to get certified without any official single release. Taylor Swift even has some straight-up album tracks certified due to strong sales (for example, "Breathe"). Songsteel (talk) 22:55, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Your Song

DanGaga (talk) 15:30, 04 April 2018 (UTC) If Your Song isn't a single, it must be a promo single!

Lady Gaga's cover of Your Song was released a week before the album (Revamp), so it means if it is not a single, it must be a promo single!

Demi Lovato's cover of Don't Go Breaking My Heart was released before the album too and it is a promo single, see her discography.

I don't know if the admins don't understand how it works in music industry, but if some song is released before the album, it means that it is a single or a promo single.

Being on Wikipedia for over a year and you still don't understand the core policies. Find me where in any of the news sources it calls "Your Song" as Gaga's new single or a promotional single. If not kindly stop with the fabrications. —IB [ Poke ] 04:42, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

DanGaga (talk) 22:05, 09 April 2018 (UTC)

And who are you that you can say it is a fabrication? You are not Gaga...

It was released a week before the album was released, it means that it is a single or a promo single, this is how it works in music industry.

I don't understand what you don't understand on this fact.

Demi Lovato's Don't Go Breaking My Heart was also released before the album and it is a promo single.

Lady Gaga has posted on her Twitter account a message, where she's writing that she has released a new cover version of Your Song with a photo (single cover), see: https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/979502753037803520

And I am writing again that it was released a week before the album was released, so it's means something, because normal songs are not released before the whole album, this was released a week before the album for some reason.

Ok, I will not do any changes on Gaga's discography anymore without some trusted sources but I can still defend my opinion.

And your defense will fall on deaf ears because Wikipedia does not work on your opinion, rather the verification of a statement. —IB [ Poke ] 04:18, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

DanGaga (talk) 19:48, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

You better go to repair the mistakes on Gaga's discography...

For example Gaga's and Tony's cover of Winter Wonderland was released in 2014 and not in 2013 as is shown in promotional singles section.

And Joanne is a promo single but in Joanne (Lady Gaga song) article is still marked as a single, same in Joanne (album) article where Joanne is also marked as a single, but it is just a promo single.

No "Joanne" was released as a single to Italy and later worldwide also in its piano form, you need to cut down this bullshit. —IB [ Poke ] 04:16, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

Instruments

Gaga plays not only piano, also guitar, keytar and other keyboard instruments like synthesizer, and drums — Preceding unsigned comment added by Venusbirth (talkcontribs) 08:18, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

How is it even relevant in the discography article? —IB [ Poke ] 08:34, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

A Star Is Born Sales

The sales for A Star Is Born should be updated for both the US and the UK adding in the second weeks. Also Joanne is certified GOLD in France.Joanne Citation — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lukeaanthony (talkcontribs) 20:30, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

No, we don't add week to week sales to derive a cumulative content as that fails WP:SYNTH. And Joanne will be updated when SNEP updates their website. We dont use Twitter when a certifying body has a regular updating website listing. —IB [ Poke ] 20:42, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
OK I understand, When will you update the soundtracks sales? Monthly? Yearly? Lukeaanthony (talk) 21:49, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Lukeaanthony
When a combined total sales will be reported and you don't need to type your name. Just type your sign with four tildes (~~~~) that's enough. —IB [ Poke ] 08:38, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Joanne Updated Sales

If we are only counting Pure Sales I think that should be mentioned. Now as we've fully entered the streaming era I think it would be helpful to add in SPS, I know chartmasters has recent sales updates and its been used as a source in a number of bands and artists including Oasis, Queen, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift. Would it be ok if I was to update Joanne with their sales stats. It doesn't make sense for Joanne to be certified Platinum (1,000,000 Copies) yet have sold 1,000,000 copies WW. That's like saying she sold nothing in the rest of the globe. What do you think? Plus its not often that Billboard updates SPS sales...or ever

No chartmasters is a sales tabulating website which only estimates sales, it is not a reliable source. Hard scanned sales are what is represented in the columns and 1 million scanned sales for Joanne is more than enough with the medium success it has had. —IB [ Poke ] 08:38, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Swedish certifications

I checked out Ariana Grande's Discography article here on Wiki and I saw she has there her Swedish certifications (GLF), so why Gaga doesn't have her Swedish certifications also on her Discography article? Thank you. — DanGaga (talk) 21:51, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Austrian certification for Joanne

Correct me if I am wrong but i can not find the gold certification under that source, are you sure it is certified gold there? --Varhegy (talk) 10:43, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

The instructions clearly says Enter Div/OST in the field Interpret. Enter A Star Is Born in the field Titel. Select album in the field Format. Click Suchen . And yes its present otherwise it would not have been added here. —IB [ Poke ] 11:06, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, that is perfectly clear for me, but I was talking about the album Joanne, not A Star Is Born. --Varhegy (talk) 11:15, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
Apologies. Misread your section title. Good catch about Joanne! Its not certified in Austria. —IB [ Poke ] 11:19, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

New peaks in France + updated numbers for ASIB WW

According to the SNEP twitter account, A Star Is Born has reached a new peak of #1 this week on the Albums Chart. In addition, Billboard has reported that A Star Is Born sales have topped 4 Million worldwide.

https://twitter.com/snep/status/1101480383777067008 https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/8500426/lady-gaga-star-born-album-sales-streams-interscope-execs-photo-kimmel

Is this verifiable enough for Wikipedia, or are there again some rules á la "Billboard articles released on a Monday are not allowed to used as sources!"

ASIB sales update

According Forbes, ASIB crossed 1 million pure sales in the USA. Purebreak Charts reported that ASIB pure sales have crossed 170,000 in France. Also, the 81k figure for the UK is outdated, the album was certified Platinum indicating 300,000 units (since the UK rarely makes pure sales numbers transparent, I think it would be more accurate to use the 300k. The Joanne figure used in the same article also is a combination of sales and streaming figures)

This has been done, thanks for the sources. —IB [ Poke ] 09:49, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Other Appearances additions

This section is missing some songs. She recorded:

  • a solo-version of 'The Lady is a Tramp' and a cover of 'La Vie en Rose' for "Tony Bennett Celebrates 90" in 2016
  • Backing vocals on 'Set Me Down on a Cloud' and 'Find Yourself' on Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real's self-titled album in 2017.
  • Backing vocals on 'Summer of Love' on U2's "Songs of Experience" in 2017
  • She also has a duet with Elton John called 'Hello, Hello' for the 2011 film "Gnomeo and Juliet", though that version is used exclusively in the film so I'm not sure what the wiki standards are for that.

Also, for the songwriting section:

  • She has a songwriting credit for 'Lola (California Weekend)' for Valeria's 2008 debut album "Freshly Squeezed"

Remove 'The lady is a tramp' as a single under lead artist as it is from Tony Bennett's album and not Lady Gaga's. Place it under Featured artist. 2001:420:C0E0:1008:0:0:0:7E4 (talk) 11:08, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Can someone remove the song "Luv Me Sum" from the collaborations? It's an unreleased song and the source used in this article is not reliable enough (surely if it was an official single with Lady Gaga there would be more coverage than just a Portuguese music blog - a quick Google search shows that there is no official release of this song). --88.105.1.243 (talk) 20:27, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Gaga has credits on about 10 songs released by other artists (And even more unreleased, but I suppose those shouldn't be included on the page)

"Murder My Heart" - 2008 - Michael Bolton - One World One Love

"Fashion" - 2008 - Heidi Montag - Non-album Single

"Invading My Mind" - 2011 - Jennifer lopez - Love?
