Unicode 🤣 redirect
editThe page https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%F0%9F%A4%A3&redirect=no redirects to this one, LOL. All my Chrome browser displays is a square box, and it appears to be some 16 bit Unicode that my text editor displays as question marks. Firefox displays it as an emoji. Is that what it should be? Does this LOL page include whatever the redirect is meant to be? Shouldn't an image be added that is accessible to a wider variety of users? -84user (talk) 11:58, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, it appears that this is a bug in Chrome that will not be fixed, according to https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/81608267/emojis-do-not-show-up?hl=en . -84user (talk) 12:04, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- It's not really a bug with Chrome so much as it is an issue with Windows 7, which doesn't come with emoji support. Granted that's not likely to be as much of an issue since Windows 7 is not receiving support updates anymore and we're now three (or four if you're on Win11) versions of Windows past 7. 'LUL' in Dutch
editIn Dutch, the word 'lul' is an originally very course, but slowly gaining mainstream word for the male member. Given that swearing in Dutch is primarily genital (as opposed to anal), this gives a very different tone to the 'u' forms of the LOL acronym. 178.237.74.251 (talk) 17:59, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
