Information

edit

Can someone please add more information about Kristina Rihanoff please? Such as Date of Birth and such. Thank you DJ MeXsTa (talk) 19:10, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest

edit

Article obviously created by subject of article, judging by the user name and this rather damning evidence.

This is against the policy on autobiographies.

Created from scratch, even including "fact" tag - my guess is it's a re-created article.

Notability

edit

This article relies solely on subjects own website and myspace page.

A search, filtering out Wikipedia, myspace, youtube and flickr gives a whole 357 hits, which quickly collapses to 14 when Google filters articles "very similar to those listed". Face it, this person just ain't notable... Camillus 22:05, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The reason I have removed several of the external links on this page is that they violate WP:LINKSTOAVOID Specifically:

- Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace), chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), USENET newsgroups or e-mail lists- therefore Rihanoff's Myspace page and facebook fanpages are unsuitable.

-Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services, or to sites with objectionable amounts of advertising. e.g Links to sites advertising classes or a camp with Rihanoff

-Sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject: the link should be directly related to the subject of the article. A general site that has information about a variety of subjects should usually not be linked to from an article on a more specific subject. e.g an article about the DWTS tour, which has less than one sentence mentioning Rihanoff, a link to an out-of-date site about two ballroom dance teachers, with just one sentence about Rihanoff being one of four people training them.

-Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article. e.g a page about Rihanoff and Wentnik which contains no information which is not already in the article, just a few sentences about their competitive highlights. It adds nothing to the article.

I have also removed the Danceplaza results, not because it isn't relevant, but because it gives exactly the same information as the dancesportinfo results.

The reason there are notability issues with this article is because there is not much at the moment to say about her. From rumours about her involvement in BBC TV this autumn, that seems likely to be change. However, re WP:BIO, notability is established by being the subject of independent secondary source material, not just being mentioned in secondary sources. "Primary sources may be used to support content in an article, but they do not contribute toward proving the notability of a subject." I assume these links are being forwarded in an attempt to prove Rihanoff's notability. but if this is the sum of independent secondary source material relating to her, it doesn't make a very good case for a wikipedia article. I've also moved a number of links out of the references list... call me naive, but I assume reference list refers to links that are actually referenced in the article? Again, the same issue that some are just unsuitable- surely it isn't appropriate to be linking to a site advertising Rihanoff's dance classes? Some of the others, particularly http://www.globaldancenews.net/members/australia/06capital/canberra.shtml, are very interesting additions to the article, but they were already in the External Links section, which is surely the appropriate place for them to be since they aren't actually referenced in the article. The dancesport results are completely relevant, but they are already linked twice- once as a reference to the main article, and once in the external links, so it seems pointless to have a third link. And maybe this isn't relevant, but just on an odd note, the entry on this site http://www.academyballroomint.com/directory/Kristina-Rihanoff.html looks suspiciously as if it has been copied from the current version of her wikipedia entry... for example '(2003-2005), 2nd in the Open to the World [3]'- where did the [3] come from, if not a cut and paste from here? Also 'Kristina was a cast member of Dancing with the Stars Tour (winter 2007-08), where she performed with various professional dancers and celebrities from all seasons of the show' which I believe is my wording, shortened from an overly detailed version which mentioned all the professional dancers involved.
I notice in the column on the left hand side of the website that the entry was added to the site on 28-06-08, and it somehow managed to find its way on to the external links of her wikipedia entry on the same day! Looks like a bit of a circular reference to me.Gingernut1015 (talk) 14:33, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Transliteration

(Russian: Kristina Pshenichnykh / Pchenitchnykh) The first of these is the usual English version, the latter the usual French.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 12:28, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
