the bilingual district of Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde

edit
  • the so called district Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde is an electoral and judicial arrondissement and not an administrative division or administrative arrondissement (or district). It is a territorial circumscription without a proper administration.
  • It is bilingual only in the sense that it comprises the officially bilingual Brussels-Capital Region and the officially unilingual Dutch-speaking administrative arrondissement Halle-Vilvoorde, the latter of witch Kraainem is a part. It is not an official "bilingual" language area. In the Belgian context of unilingual and bilingual language areas, the use of the word “bilingual” in this case is thus not neutral.

Mayor is acting Mayor

edit

In Belgium, a mayor of burgomaster is not a by public vote elected politician, but has to be nominated by the regional governement. The non-nominated frenchspeaking Arnold d'Oreye de Lantremange is now acting mayor, due to his violation of the democratic language laws. -Pediariki (talk) 13:04, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mayor is acting Mayor - Reaction

edit

I find the preceding comment not neutral. One can think that the mayor is not nominated after a justice dicision. I would rather say: "The non-nominated frenchspeaking Arnold d'Oreye de Lantremange is now acting mayor, due to a political decision of the Flemish government as a reaction to the violation of the mayor of the language laws." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Harpagon a (talkcontribs) 11:46, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are right. It is a political decision, your text is OK. -Pediariki (talk) 23:01, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
