editI have no dogs in this ridiculous fight. I'm Welsh-Irish, not East Asian. I just happened to be eating a Pyrus pyrifolia and came by to read more about one of the world's most sublime fruits. I'd read the article before it was moved, so imagine my surprise when Nashi pear was suddenly a double-redirect leading to a hastily slapped-together article where a few instances of "nashi" had been changed to "Korean pear". This is ridiculous. If you don't like the title of an article, go talk about it on the article's page, don't just move it. And don't just move it so incredibly badly. I almost never edit, but I wasn't going to let this affront to a delicious foodstuff go unanswered. 69.140.12.199 03:19, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Korean pear or Asian pear versus Nashi pear
editPretty obvious that Nashi pear is not the most common or important name for commercial Pyrus pyrifolia, which is what the articles are mainly about, so I took off the redirect and added some ancillary comments particular to Korean pear. The rest I added to Nashi pear. I'm not sure what the most common usage is, Asian or Korean pear. If someone could find some good numbers, we would know what the best name is. As for Nashi pear, if it is the main page, there is obviously a problem and the article should be moved. Jclf19k 22:29, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
