Talk:Kern, Alaska

Latest comment: 5 years ago by Scarpy in topic No marker for Kern

More than likely, the settlement of Kern was actually little more than a section of the Alaska Railroad. Many of the original sections were abandoned over the years when technology allowed crews to maintain greater distances of track and sections were subsequently consolidated. While Kern may very well have remained populated by the time of the earthquake, I really doubt it. I'm sending this from my phone while getting ready to go to work, so I won't have time to check this out further. RadioKAOS  – Talk to me, Billy 12:06, 30 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

No marker for Kern

edit

Checked on both sides of the highway and didn't see it. Apple maps satellite view doesn't seem to show any signs of roads or cabins, but I didn't hike off the highway to see for myself. This article is based entirely on one source that looks to have been published in 1998. It's likely out of date or was speculation at the time it was written. - Scarpy (talk) 19:36, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
