Lost in the jungle

edit

The 'official' coordinates of the power station had placed it somewhere in the jungle of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a protected gorilla habitat and an unlikely spot for a 6 MW power plant. Clues in the specifications document and a bit of Google Earth searching turned up the true location, just outside the park.

The dam is only 50 feet high, which wouldn't provide much power, but by piping the water to a power station a kilometre downhill, they were able to get the drop to 300 feet. Reliable power is needed in the Kanungu District, and this helps greatly, but unfortunately there is only enough flow to run the plant at full output for two hours a day.
