ImpuMozhi 23:14, 14 March 2006 (UTC) Chibs: CHIB are rajputs who at present are living in the indian state of jammu and kashmir in jammu and in pakistan in mirpur, jhelum, kharian and Sarai Alamgir. Before 1947 all chibs(hindus and muslims) used to live in MIRPUR and after 47 ,hindu chibs left for jammu which became a part of india. ALL Chibs are desendents of a person named Chib chand katoch, who was not katoch rajput and who lived in the so called himachal pradesh of today in india ,and he came to mirpur area and settled there. All his decendends there after called themselves chibs. so basically Chibs are katoch rajputs only and in hindus chibs and katochs don't marry for this reason. Afterwards many chib hindus became muslims. History and Origin: Currently H.H Mahraja Dev Chand Katoch of Princely state of Kangra is known to be the 488th Royal King of his line.(Now after land reforms the state is owned by Indian government and above mentioned Maharaja is receiving the Royality and the Jageer of lambargoon).History says that 4300B.C Rajanka Bhumi Chand Katoch migrated from Rajputana (Now Rajhistan) with his army, entered Hamachal Pardesh and captured Kangra. He was the first emperor of Kangra. His descendent the 280th Royal King of the state Rajanaka PARMANAND CHAND I [Porus] fl.330BC, fought against Alexander the Great of Macedon. The 441st king Raja PADAM CHAND fl.1170, aided King PRITHVIRAJ III of Delhi against Muhammed Ghouri, his brother founded the state of Jaswan in 1170. The 455th king Raja MEGH CHAND 1390/1405, fought against Timur, married and had issue. He had three sons Raja HARI CHAND I (qv) Raja KARAN CHAND II (qv) Raja PRATAP CHAND, founder of Bhimbar. Now there is little bit confusion.May be in the books there is written Raja Pratap Chand by mistake instead of Chib Chand or may be the Raja Chib Chand was the son of Raja Pratap chand who as per the discovery of his father went to Bhimbar. Chib Chand Katoch, the Rajkumar (Royal Prince)of Kangra started his journey from Kangra to Bhimbar in 1300 A.D. When he reached the hill top near bhimber which was an independent state of Jammu , ruled by old Minhas Rajput Raja. Chib Chand observed that it was very difficult to capture the state. He put the name of village on hilltop where he diployed with his troops as KANGRA. That village is stillexisting by the name kangra. Rajkumar Chib Chand Katoch stayed for long time with his troops on hilltop waiting for a good opputunity to attack but nt got a chance. Meanwhile he was short of his RASHAN( Grossories and eatables) Chib chand put off his Royal neckles and gave it to his soldier to go down to the market of bhimbar and get the raashan against the neckles. When the soldier in an ordinary getup went to the Jeweler, the Jeweler was astonished to saw the Royal neckles. When the soldier went back to Chib Chand with Raashan, the Jewler told the Old Raja of Bhimbar and showed the neckles to him. The Minhas Raja sent his spy on recky who told him about the dipolyment of the Kangra troops on hill top.The old Raja sent his ambassidor to C.C katoch which resulted a friendly meeting between the Chib Chand and Raja of Bhimbar. The old Raja has no sons but one daughter(Rajkumari). He married the princess with Rajkumar Chib Chand Katoch and died later. So the Rajkumar became the Raja of Bhimbar. In this way Raja Chib Chand Katoch was the first Katoch Rajput Raja of Bhimbar.(Our Shijra-i-Nasab also shows the same). Raja Dharam Chand was the 9th Raja of the line.He converted to Islam and named as Raja Shadab Khan of Bhimbar. He got mytered by Ibrahim Lodhi and his tomb is still exists on the hills of bhimbar by the name of BABA SHADI SHAHEED KA MAZAR. His wife was remain Hindu so the elder childern converted to Islam and younger remained Hindu. Which resulted in two branches i.e Muslim Chibs and Hindu Chibs. The Raj Gaddi was continously with Muslim Chibs. The last and 25th Chib King of the line was Raja Sultan Khan of Bhimbar. There was a common man named Gulab Singh who was a dogra rajput by his cast, borned in bhimbar and in young age joined the armed forces of Raja of Bhimbar. After three months of his service he resigned , went to Lahore and joined the forces of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh of Punjab.Later he reached at the rank of General in Maharajas Army. Maharaja Ranjeet decided to capture jammu.General Gulab Singh marched towards Jammu with his forces. Jammu was divided in eight small states headed by independent Rajas. All the Rajas welcomed Maharaja Ranjeet Singh instead of two Rajas named Raja Sultan Khan(Chib) of Bhimbar and Raja Aggarullah Khan of Rajouri. The heavy forces of Maharaja Ranjet Singh under the command of General Gulab singh entered Jammu throgh Bhimbar in 1809. Raja Sultan after tough resistance escaped from the state. The same happened in Rajouri and General Gulab captured entire jammu.Due to this action General Gulab Singh was titled by Ranjeet Singh as Maharaja of Jammu. The escaped Rajas (Raja Sultan Khan of Bhimbar and Raja Aggarullah Khan of Rajouri) gathered there forces and started preparing themselves to take revenge from the invaders (sikhs). After the hard work of 4years the two Rajas with there forces attacked on Khalsa (Sikh) army in 1813.In the history this battle known as battle of haidru. After the bloody fight the two Rajas could not stood in front of 10 times larger army of sikhs and were defeated.Raja Aggarullah Khan was arrested and Chib Rajput Raja Sultan Khan of Bhimbar managed to escape. Raja Sultan Khan was underground for many years in the village of Sara-i-alamgir ,Jehlum. Maharaja Gulab Singh tried his level best to find him but failed. After the complete British Raj in 1857, the elder son of Raja Sultan Khan was designated by British as Raja of Bhimbar and started giving him the royality against the surrendering of the state. He was also rewarted a Jageer in district jehlum. He built his Royal styled Haveli near river Jehlum . Im not sure but his decendants are still taking the royality from British government. The above mentioned is the complete history of Chib Rajputs. As always the elder son become the Raja so the younger sons of Chib rulers of Bhimbar spread over the mirpur ,Bhimbar, all the villages near bhimbar nala, Sarai-alamgir and Kharian and this area is known as Chibhial , the home of Chibs. Currently the Chibs are mostly serving in the key appointments in army, police and Civil services.Reply
