Locations edit

Not sure of the point in listing these 'areas'. Some are towns,( proclaimed or otherwise), some have small settlements, eg. Nepean Bay, and some are simply geographical areas such as MacGillivray. If it's a list of place names, then what about D'Estrees Bay and Baudin Beach.I'd be inclined to delete the section in its entirety if its only to be a list of names.Browning ave 01:29, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Its intended to be a section naming all the localities officially encompassed in the Kangaroo Island Council and is sourced from the LGASA website. All council pages have such lists to allow anyone to identify what town is is which council area. I do agree the way they are divided up is strange, but its the official list, so there must be some reason behind the madness. That said, feel free to add more notable towns to the list, i can't see it will hurt. If you are familiar with all the towns/localities, it would be good if you could seperate the major towns from the smaller towns/geographical areas, like is done at District Council of Ceduna. I have been to K.I. a few times but i've never heard of some of those areas, so if you know them, it would be cool if you could do that. In short DO NOT delete the list, cheers. Including a list of locality names purely on the basis that they are on an "official" list on the LGASA website is not in itself a justification. A number of the localities in the list are of no importance or relevance, which means it ends up being simply a "list" which I think doesn't really add to the reader's understanding of the activities of this LGA. In the case of Kangaroo Island, the fact that the LGA takes in the whole of the island should be sufficient in delineating the areas under its control. Taking this into account, I don't think it is appropriate for you to mandate that the list be retained - Wikipedia doesn't work that way and a consensual approach determines this! Ok, if you really think that having a list of towns and localities covered by the council is a waste of time, get rid of it, i really don't mind. I've always used the council pages a base to see which town articles need creating for each of the council areas, and if there isn't a list in these pages, it's annoying to have to sift through the towns in SA category. However, i do see your point about K.I., as the whole island is encompassed in the Council, its obvious any town/locality in K.I. is within the scope of the council. I think at least a list of the major towns governed in the area needs to be present, as it seems to be standard on all local government area pages. Sorry if i came across a bit strong in my first reply though, i didn't mean to dictate.Cheers Kare Kare 06:23, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:KI council logo.jpg edit

Image:KI council logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
