Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

editLede
edit- Same deal we were talking about with the lede sentence on the other article I reviewed, SEAOFBLUE, etc Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:29, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- Done (will now be doing this to the other pages in the GA pipeline)
- independent station KTVK - seaofblue. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:29, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- Done
- Arizona's first television station, KPHO-TV operated as an independent station for nearly 40 years - do we need to say the name again? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:29, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- I think it reads better in the sentence because it needs a sentence
- during which time it sometimes measured as the most-watched independent in its market - seems quite vague. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:29, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- It's based on
found by an American Research Bureau survey in 1975 to be the number one independent station in the country in terms of viewing share
Made a wording tweak in hopes of clarifying the meaning.
- It's based on
- television station on channel 5 - I'm not super familiar with the US, but there's lots of channel five. I'd assume this is channel five in Pheonix? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:29, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- That's correct. This isn't like Freeview where a channel number is national in scope. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 18:43, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- I do think the article could do with summarising what it actually broadcasts in the lede Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:33, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Lee Vilenski: I've added some material to this effect. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 18:43, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
General
edit- This was the first such application—and permit—in Arizona - which part? That it was for channel five, or that there wasn't an application before? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- It was straight-up the first one in the whole state. [1]
- Unrelated, but over here, Westward Ho! is one of two places in the world with an exclamation mark in it's name. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- CBS, NBC, ABC, - needs links. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- Done
- Subchannels of KPHO-TV - needs a key. Nothing explains what the different colour means. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- In part this is because the appearance is recent (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television/Television stations task force#Establishing a set standard for subchannel tables/technical information). A quick explainer, and you will see this in the other Phoenix pages. A new television standard, ATSC 3.0, was recently introduced in the US, but it's incompatible with the existing sets. We have two stations here running in ATSC 3.0: KFPH-CD (channel 35) and KASW (channel 61). The owners of these stations made arrangements to place the broadcast of these channels in the current (ATSC 1.0) format on the transmitters of other stations. In this case, channel 35.4 belongs to KFPH-CD and, for legal reasons, is not part of the KPHO-TV license, though it is on the same transmitter. (This gets to be head-spinning even for a fair number of our long-running US editors!) I have added a legend to this section (and brought the color code up to revised spec, which is important because the old one didn't quite hit WCAG AA). Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 18:43, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- The legend/key was all I was after. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:26, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- Translators - why does this have External links? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- This is also an issue that will impact the other Phoenix pages together, but I've removed them from all three at once. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 18:43, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

edit- I'll begin the review as soon as I can! If you fancy returning the favour, I have a list of nominations for review at WP:GAN and WP:FAC, respectively. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these if you get time. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:48, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
