I've deleted the article on Ms. Mauriello, and restarted it with only information we can source. Ms. Mauriello contacted Wikipedia, expressing her concern with the factual accuracy of the content. While she did not express privacy concerns, it is not Wikipedia's place to discuss the subject's family or personal life, unless such information is public known, by express consent of the subject. -- Zanimum 13:08, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Note on identity

The person who edited as User:JuliannaRoseMauriello is quite definitely not Ms Mauriello. I've noted on that user's talk page that such usernames on Wikipedia are not considered a tribute but a violation of the username policy (we have quite a few people with articles who edit Wikipedia under their own names), and that they should pick a new name - David Gerard 13:40, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

I may be late on this subject, but Ms. Mauriello is NOT deceased. If she is, she's doing a bad job of it, seeing as how I believe she'll be in Florida this weekend, above ground. I'm a moderator at World of Julianna, I should know.Ispy1981

LazyTown.com external link

I don't think this is needed as information given on this website is only about her actual character from the show LazyTown, not the actress.--Andeh 20:48, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I think the link should stay. It is only a single link to what is her main 'job', and what many people will know her for. Having never heard of this person before, I found it very informative (loosely speaking) to see what she actually looked like, in real life (as it were), and to see what she does. Through the videos on the site, I found it interesting to see the way she moves - you can actually see the stage and dance training and experience she has had coming through in the performance. You can also hear what she sounds like. It provides a very rich insight into what she is like. If this link was not there I would probably have never bothered going to find the site and my knowledge of her would be much poorer. I would not have even gone to the LazyTown article because it would involve an extra click, and time for the page to load, and a scroll down the page past some material I have no interest in. You may think that is petty but it is how people work. The link is very much about her. I think it should stay as a useful resource for readers. Kate Moore 21:44, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, I suppose as that's one of the few official sites about her, I guess it should stay then. It just looked to me that adding that would be like adding missionimpossible.com to Tom Cruise.--Andeh 15:39, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Hip-Hop Homeroom

Hello everyone, I just joined wikipedia, and due to recent vandalism, I can't add anything. Also, I don't want to mess anything up until I read the tutorial completely through. Anyways, I didn't she Ms. Mauriello's "Hip Hip Kids: Hip-Hop Homeroom" movie that came out earlier this year, and thought it should be added. Here is the link from IMDB: [1] WWFdxNWOrules5555 17:48, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, there. I just added the info and the link you gave to the article. Thanks!

No problem, just thought it should be added. I would have done it, but due to the recent vandalism, I couldn't.WWFdxNWOrules5555 06:54, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Photo

Okay, people are switching between a picture of Julianna not in costume, and her dressed up as Stephanie, about once a week. The last person who switched it back to the pic of Julianna not in costume, mentioned Fair Use... I don't know if that meant the picture wasn't fair use or was. But please, either come here and tell us why you're changing the picture, or else leave it alone. Kat, Queen of Typos 06:55, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh. The photo was missing in the infobox, and I just ended up replacing it with the one used in Lazytown. That was my justification. :: Colin Keigher (Talk) 06:59, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I didn't realize it was missing. Kat, Queen of Typos 03:33, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Will someone please explain to me the idea of fair use? Reason I'm asking is, while the photo of Julianna dressed as Stephanie is all well and good, this is an article about her and not the character, unless, of course, she goes out in the streets of NYC dressed like that. There are quite a few images of the real person in the public domain. Ispy1981 18:08, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
protip: add both —Preceding unsigned comment added by MidnightOverlord (talkcontribs)

people should just stop switching the pictures how bout you put a picture with both of them because even hough its about the real person and not the character its still part of who she is or who she was

Doesn't work like that here. Any image here has to be of Julianna Rose Mauriello, not of Stephanie. A pic of Stephanie is OK in an article about Stephanie, but not of the actress who plays her. With regard to this article, since JRM is a living person, a copyright-free image of here (that is, NOT one lifted from some website without permission) is all that is allowed. WP:NFC is the policy here. If anyone has, or can find, a free image on Flickr or elsewhere, feel free to add it. until then, it's a big no-no. --Rodhullandemu 21:09, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

I think I can help with a picture but I wont know how to add it very well.

Emmy Award Winner

I do not believe that the fact that Kevin Clash is cited as the winner of the Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series" is important to this article, as it has nothing to do with Ms. Mauriello, nor her nomination. 24.252.192.148 03:01, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Stating that Kevin Clash won explains why she was only nominated and not awarded. Hazama 04:14, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I think it's a pretty standard conclusion that someone didn't win the award if it says they were only nominated. Like actresses who have been nominated for an Oscar and don't win. Kat, Queen of Typos 06:39, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I think the OP is right on this. Saying Julianna was nominated already implies she did not win. Leave it at that. Let Kevin Clash have the glory on his own Wikientry.--Ispy1981 18:16, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Picture?

I noticed the reqphoto tag has been placed on the article. I have 3 pictures of her that I could upload. I would need to know how to do that and how to avoid having the image deleted (in plain English, please). If someone who is knowledgeable about this could leave me a message at my talk page, I'd be grateful. Thanks.--Sethacus 21:32, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

As far as I know, if you took the photo yourself, you have all rights to the photo and are therefore free to upload it for the article. -HamatoKameko (talk) 08:03, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

"Stars in" VS. "Starred in"

Until here is a citable source confirming that she has been replaced as the actress for Stephanie in LazyTown, this article should continue to state that Ms. Mauriello currently stars in the show. As of this time, there does not appear to any such information available. Beyond this point, continued reversion to the past tense, without proper citations, will be considered vandalism and will be handled accordingly. --HamatoKameko (talk) 21:39, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Furthermore, in response to this editor's comment, "Julianna hansn't played Stephanie for MONTHS,http://www.lazytownlive.co.uk/ was announced to be the new stephanie in lazytown tours and television. It's over, and a wikipedia page wont change that..."
I'm afraid you are incorrect. The website for LazyTown Live confirms Kimberley Pena as the actress for Stephanie in the live show, only. It makes no mention of the television show. There has in fact been some talk of a third season of the show, though nothing is confirmed as of yet and no change in the show's cast has been announced. Please be certain of your sources before making controversial edits in the future, and please remember that the talk page is the proper place to discuss editing conflicts. --HamatoKameko (talk) 22:04, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. As I noted in my revert, since a troll repeatedly has changed this information, any such edits will be suspect. RainbowOfLight Talk 00:07, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Oh, my pleasure. The evidence does point to this being a repeat offender, blocked for six months last summer, for a litany of offenses. He just can't seem to stay away, I guess. The pull is too great. I also suspect this is the same person who spread some nasty offwiki rumors about Julianna.--Sethacus (talk) 03:45, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello! I would like to discuss the matter involving this "Edit War" about Julianna Rose Mauriello. Whether it be a prank or not, it IS true that the show "Lazy Town" has in fact ended. Julianna is in negotiation's for a movie titled "A Fix" now, and will not be returning to Lazy Town. With this said, the article should say "Played In" instead of "Play's In" from now on. Leaving it as "Play's in" may work seeing as how the new season of Lazy Town is still currently showing, but will need to be changed sometime soon.

Thank you!

((Silvess)) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvess (talkcontribs) 13:16, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Actors can, and frequently do, work on more than one project at the same time. Being in a movie does not preclude her from starring in Lazytown. Since the last word from a reliable source was that a third season may be in the works, we cannot make that change at this time. RainbowOfLight Talk 19:31, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Fact tags?

I noticed several cite tags have been recently added by PdThor. I'm not questioning Thor's judgment, however, I am aware that some of the facts may be on the official LazyTown website, which could be considered a reliable. I also suspect the author of her Imdb bio to actually be her father. Comments?--Sethacus (talk) 04:24, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately, suspicion is not enough to go on when we're talking reliable sources. However, the LazyTown official website is entirely citable, and probably the best place to go to for eliminating those fact tags. --HamatoKameko (talk) 09:14, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Inappropriate material

I have removed, pursuant to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, a long thread here about information being inserted in the article, not supported by reliable sources and of dubious authenticity, concerning this young person's personal life and feelings. Discussing whether to include information and whether sources are valid on the talkpage of article is usually commendable and correct, and most of the posts here were in complete good faith, but in this case the thread itself raised BLP concerns and may not remain present. This material should not be restored, either in the article or on the talkpage. Newyorkbrad (talk) 05:57, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Which part of WP:BLP is not being understood here? Removed further inappropriate material. --Rodhullandemu (please reply here - contribs) 11:29, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

The information removed was a violation of Wikipedia's Biographies of Living Persons guidelines (see WP:BLP). Furthermore, it was libellous, and had it been left up, Wikipedia could have been sued. In this case, it was correct to have removed it. RainbowOfLight Talk 06:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
  • And it has been removed YET AGAIN. Anyone unhappy with this should read our policy on writing about living people. This can have legal consequences for the Wikimedia Foundation, and blocks may issue to anyone insisting on violating this policy. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 11:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

The following is an official e-mail from Agust Freyr Ingason (Vice President, LTE), to LazyTown Point Admin., regarding a recent request for an 'affiliate link' with LazyTown Entertainment. If there is still any doubt about the veracity of the interviews featured on LazyTownPoint.com, you are welcome to contact Agust personally, to confirm. Thank you.

From: agust@lazytown.com (Agust Freyr Ingason) Date: Mon, Jun 30, 2008, 12:24pm (MST+7) Subject: RE: Affiliate Link Dear Laila, Thank you for your enthusiasm and passion for LazyTown. We do much appreciate your website and effort to enlighten the LazyTown message. After much consideration and discussion we have decided that we will not become officially attached to any fan site. There said we would much prefer to support you with interviews, potential material that could be special to your website, etc. It is important to us that all fansites representing LazyTown are perceived as independent to keep their authenticity as fansites and not something that we are producing. Hope you meet this understanding and that we can be of support to you in the future. With kind regards, Agust Freyr Ingason Executive Vice President. LazyTown Entertainment

Offline Reference

The first reference in the article that states her date of birth says it's offline, but I've managed to find an interview of Mauriello on a blog on Nicksplat. It mentions her birth date too, but I'm not sure if it's the same interview as I obviously didn't see the original..

http://www.nicksplat.com/nickspace/blog/blog.php?blogger=aaa123 londonsista | Prod 09:40, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

The IP claiming to be Mauriello's brother has a point

Why does it say "stars in Lazytown" (present tense) when the show was canceled in 2006? The IP, though going about it all wrong, has a point. It probably should be past tense. I am going to change it -- let me know if I am missing anything. --Jaysweet (talk) 15:58, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

It's still being shown in the UK. Does she not still star in it? --Rodhullandemu 16:01, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Is it still being filmed, or is it just reruns? If the former, definitely present tense. If the latter, definitely past tense.
I am worried your answer is going to be "The filming is done, but new episodes are still airing in the UK", in which case I don't know what the right answer is ;D --Jaysweet (talk) 16:06, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Never mind, I did not read the Lazytown article carefully enough. I think I have answered my own question: Plans have been announced for a third season, but no action has been taken yet. So, heh, as per WP:CRYSTAL I guess we leave it at present tense. No worries! --Jaysweet (talk) 16:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
To answer your other question, it would be past tense. They still show reruns of Three's Company, but it would be quite inappropriate to say that John Ritter "stars" in Three's Company. —Wknight94 (talk) 16:10, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

So to answer your question, I was right, you were wrong. Next time please don;t change my sisters page just to cause commotion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.234.104.242 (talkcontribs)

Strictly, even if you are her brother, which we'll take as read for now, you shouldn't be editing it anyway because of a possible conflict of interest. Let's be clear here; her IMDb entry is clearly edited on her behalf, but they don't have as strict standards of verifiability as we have here. If Julianna has a problem with her article, then she can email WP:OTRS with the details; that doesn't mean it will be edited to her preference, by any means. But given the somewhat dubious interest in her that has appeared here from time to time, be assured that experienced editors are fully aware of this, and deal with it very quickly. You should have nothing to worry about. --Rodhullandemu 00:35, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Firstly, you were not entirely in the right in your edits, so please cut out the "I was right, you were wrong" thing, it's not cool. Secondly, not only are you violating WP:COI, by saying "don't change my sister's page," you're also violating WP:OWN. It wouldn't matter if you were JRM herself - you don't own the article and you can't stop people from editing it. You can, as Rodhullandemu pointed out above, contact Wikipedia in regards to anything libelous here. However, I guarantee you it will take some serious proof of who you are, given the fact that there was already a Myspace and YouTube impersonator, who had at least the Myspace staff fooled with a Photoshopped picture of JRM holding a "myspace.com" sign, and finally was discovered as a faker. Furthermore, let's say you are her brother - how do we know that your parents approve of your edits, since your sister is a minor at 17. If you'd like more respect around here, please act respectfully towards other editors. RainbowOfLight Talk 06:10, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

I am respectful of all fans, just not stalkers. Sorry RainbowOfLight ;) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.234.104.242 (talkcontribs)

I highly doubt you are her "brother" as you claim. You keep saying "my sister", when you could just say 'her' or Julianna. Also, I find it hard to believe that the brother of an up-and-coming starlet would waste his time being concerned about trivial matters on a website.

"Also, if she is having a problem with stalkers, wouldn't it be a bad idea to add the name of her college?"

Spot on RainbowOfLight. What a big phat phoney. Thisnamestaken (talk) 19:20, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

And "Sethacus" we have spoken before andd I even took a picture for imdb about hoopdy. I can assure you, this is not amusing and you are treading on very thin ice right now. My sister hates your name as much as the other guys you posted so I wouldnt be here waving flags or pointing fingers. You are 36 years old and talking about Julianna. You could have children her age. Time to stop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.97.199.70 (talk) 07:04, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, with the best of intentions, this just doesn't cut it here. If Julianna has a problem with her article, she can complain through WP:OTRS. Meanwhile, we just don't believe you, because you could be any old crank. That's not unusual here, given the fake MySpace and YouTube pages that have been notified to us previously. We are careful about biographies, particularly of legal minors. But until Julianna or a verified parent or guardian on her behalf contacts us through the proper channels, we ain't gonna listen to you. You could be anyone, but we need to hear from someone. Is that clear enough? --Rodhullandemu 01:07, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Since when? Never! She knows a few words an some statements but she doesn;t know enough to carry on a conversation.

Also, she will be attending Vasser college for a teaching degree in elementary education. Why was this removed? and tell me how to upload a picture and I will take one of her right now hahaha! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.234.104.242 (talkcontribs)

It was removed because there is no reliable source as per Wikipedia's policy. Also, if she is having a problem with stalkers, wouldn't it be a bad idea to add the name of her college? You will find what you need to know about uploading images here. Finally, when you leave a comment, could you type 4 tildes (~) at the end of your comment (or press the signature button above the editing box)? That signs your "name" (which is currently your IP address) and makes it easier to know who left the comment. Thanks. :) RainbowOfLight Talk 05:04, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
