- The reference has already been updated a long time ago but for any readers who are reading this and didn't know ...
- His name is not "Sequin". This is a common anglophone mispelling. Nothing more.

Burial
editThe article states that Seguín arranged for the defenders to be buried with military honors. Our other articles state that nearly all of them had been cremated en masse by Stanta Anna, so what was buried? Also, since the defenders were legally Mexicans, were these Mexican military honors that they recieved? 70.20.238.31 04:50, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
-my understanding is that Seguin scooped up some of the ashes, placed them in a wooden casket and had them buried. Texas did have a standing army at the time (or at least what it called one) so I would assume they received Rep. of Texas military honors. San Fernando Catherdral in San Antonio now contains a marble crypt that is supposed to hold the ashes. Also on commerce street there is a historical marker claiming to be the spot where Seguin originally buried the ashes.
Tejano?
editThe first sentence uses the term "tejano" to describe him. Why?
This has a bit of a racist connotation in this context. At this time there was no concept of "tejano" in any sense. At that time the ethnic/racial distinctions that we have today did not exist (although other distinctions did exist).
Apparently the distinction being pointed out here is that his family descended from the former Spanish colonies and not from the former English colonies as many of the other heros did. Although that distinction may be worth clarifying we should be more careful how this is worded. Perhaps just omit any mention of it in the first sentence and then explain better in discussing his background later in the text?

The citizenry of Texas were a politcal minority?

Clean up
editThere is some major clean up happening to this article right now. I ran a copyvio check, and it came up 87% certainty on the violations. Beyond that, this article was in at least passable shape about 3-4 years back. What I see now are a lot of non-autoconfirmed edits that turned this into bad editing, sometimes not even making sense. POV in abundance. In some ways, it became an example of what happens when anybody tosses something against the wall, and nobody checks. Too bad. But hopefully this can be salvaged to some degree. — Maile (talk) 21:35, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
