Hannibal's Rank edit

The references say :

[1] Hannibal's rank is inconsistent in the series. For the first four seasons, when referred to, the distinction of Lieutenant Colonel is made. When he's on trial in the episode "Firing Line" in season 5 however, he is simply a colonel. He also wears the insignia of Lieutenant Colonel (a leaf) in the first season episode "A Nice Place to Visit", rather than the eagle insignia used for Colonels, which he does wear in "Firing Line".

This is not necessarily incosistent. In many English speaking military organisations, there is a conversational convention of dropping the 1st part of Officer ranks, for instance [Lieutenant] Commander / Colonel, [Rear / Vice] Admiral and [Brigadier / Major / Lieutenant] General.

I would suggest this note be deleted, and a short allusion to this convention placed instead in narrative text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.84.231.17 (talk) 18:49, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Coburn edit

Article says "The producers originally had James Coburn in mind to play the part of Hannibal, but it eventually ended up going to Peppard.[3]" and the ref used is Wikipedia's article "Bring Back...#Bring Back...The A-Team", but that Bring Back article doesn't mention Coburn. Remove the ref? --EarthFurst (talk) 09:06, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

The ref isn't to the article, it's to the television show. Kusonaga (talk) 10:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Plausible origin of Colonel Smith edit

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soapy_Smith#Back_to_Denver Note the following: "Before leaving, Soapy tried to perform a swindle started in Mexico, where he tried to convince President Porfirio Diaz that his country needed the services of a foreign legion made up of American toughs. Soapy became known as Colonel Smith, and managed to organize a recruiting office before the deal failed." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soapy_Smith#cite_ref-23 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.44.20.49 (talk) 23:20, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hannibal's Name Leading the Article edit

As in the below discussion, if his rank is indeed Lieutenant Colonel, in the US he would simply be addressed as Colonel in conversation. The very first line of the article however has him listed as Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith. If his rank is indeed Lieutenant Colonel, the article should open with "Lieutenant Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith" 201.143.122.190 (talk) 17:52, 1 September 2010 (UTC)TuluiReply

There are insignias and uniforms and a whole mess of inconsistencies surrounding Hannibal's rank. --Boycool (talk) 19:43, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Awards and Citations edit

Sorry, but Awards and Citations is completely out of place for a fictional character. I like the character, but this does dis-service to those who truly earned it.--173.69.135.105 (talk) 01:26, 28 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
