"Black government"?

I am at a loss as to what the following sentence means: "However, the jive including other swing dances was not approved by the black government." It seems as though the sentence is written to imply the leaders of some country, but that does not fit really well with the rest of the article. speed error

shouldn't "bpm" read "measures per minute" instead? Usually "bpm" means beats per minute, not bars per minute. This means the values are off by the factor 4.

I'm completely agreed with you on that. I have never seen the acronym 'bpm' being used to mean 'bars per minute'. I feel this could be confusing to some people reading this article. Basic Step

I've done some research in the Internet and it seems that the base step indeed takes 6 counts (=3 beats), which it less than a bar (= 4 beats = 8 counts). How fast is fast?

Not much of a video. Not only is its quality really low, but it shows also just a performance with its stress on giving a show which does not help an unfamiliar reader much in understanding how the actual ballroom dance goes. International style jive

The dance is mostly done on the balls of the feet. International style jive is described in any basic ballroom dancing textbook, and is danced with the latin dances in international competitions. The technique books describe it as 42/44 bars per minute, or 40-46 bars per minute, and the sources respectively are Laird, Walter 1988.
