Please keep information on this article notable. The UNESCO link I found shows notability of the organisation, but it is not necessary to list every single performance. This is an encyclopedia, not WP:NOTMYSPACE. Keep the rest of the information notable and neutral - avoid weasel words. Remember any non-verifiable information may be removed. --triwbe (talk) 16:01, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maria, The WOrld Orchestra Comms.

edit

Dear Triwbe, I'm Maria, responsible of The World ORchestra Comms.I created The World Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales page and you made changes which are not right. The World ORchestra was founded as Jeunesses Musicales World ORchestra but it changed its name a long time ago. Although you can find the old name in internet I assure you that the real name is The World Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales. I would appreciate if you undo your changes concerning the name and also the title of the page. Thank you very much (Maria press (talk) 11:14, 14 July 2008 (UTC))Reply

I think the name of the article should be the current name. I have kept the old name and redirected it to the new name. The old name can easily be explained in the article itself. If we look at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies) then the name should be the legal name of the entity. For a musical ensemble the guidelines are less clear. But in any case you may change what ever I have done, but please explain your edits in the edit summary to allow everyone to understand the changes and make sure all information in the article is properly referenced in reliable sources. Best regards. --triwbe (talk) 16:44, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The name on the official website now seems to be simply "The World Orchestra". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:59, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

World’s first youth orchestra ?

edit

It was founded in 1949 by Igor Markevitch but its permanent structure dates back to 1970, when Gilles Lefebvre consolidated the world’s first youth orchestra. What does this mean? Please see National Youth Orchestra of Wales ♦ Jongleur100 talk 11:20, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

? Founded by Igor Markevitch.

edit

I cannot understand why Igor Markevitch is regarded as the founder of the JMI. The JMI website is not exactly clear about who formed it - but it seems likely that Gilles Lefebvre did, although it has metamorphosed a little since then. Looking at Igor Markevitch there are no references to him having had anything to do with the Jeunesse World Orchestra, I find that very odd, such an august and worthwhile action would surely have been noted in his biography. As the header messages note the article needs a thorough rewrite with proper references. hopefully I can get around to that in the nearish future and await any comments.
