Requested move edit

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move per request. For future reference this type of request is completely uncontroversial and can be requested at the uncontroversial moves subsection of WP:RM (and would have been moved much faster if requested there).--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:24, 26 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I need a pseudocode for Jenks Natural Breaks Optimiaztion, can you help me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.56.138.2 (talk) 22:04, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

A question to the author/s of this page: does the Jenks natural breaks method require setting the number of classes in advance, as it is in K-means clustering, or can the method - or a variant thereof - be used to determine the number of classes? 166.170.41.135 (talk) 15:17, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Algorithm description is too vague edit

The description of the algorithm provided in the description of method section is not clear about how the unit to move between classes at each step is chosen. It would seem that the original resource describing the algorithm has not been digitized and is also not cited here, so it would be good if somebody could obtain access to that article and improve the section's description of the algorithm. I found this reference with an explicit equation form representation of the Jenks optimization and how it does differ from K-means (contrary to the equivalence that is implied in the article). The reference is quite clear and seems credible. I am perplexed, however, that the author refers to the minimization of Eucledian distance instead of the squared Eucledian distance (see my post here: https://stats.stackexchange.com/a/558826/345570). Until this gets cleared up, I hesitate to modify the article without confirmation. Guillaume Majeau-Bettez (talk) 08:28, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Moving content between this page, and George F. Jenks bibliography page edit

I just created a page for George F. Jenks, and noted that this page has a bit of background on him in the "history" section. I believe that some content from that section could be moved to the bibliography page, and that the bibliography page could be improved by more reference to the algorithm.
