What was "Jangladesh"?

edit

In the article, "Jangladesh is variously referred to as: "an historical region", a "province", a "region", and a "kingdom". Moreover, a table shows it containing 7 "Jat kingdoms."

Would someone knowledgeable please straighten this mess out? The name would seem to refer to a "jungly" or wilderness area - so, I would imagine that, perhaps, "region" would be the best choice in English? If it was ever a kingdom, would someone please add the dates, references, and other pertinent information to justify this status? Many thanks, John Hill (talk) 22:37, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removed unprovable claim

edit

I have just removed the sentence: "At every stage of invasion to India the foreign invaders had to encounter with the Jats of this region." This sentence is totally unprovable and, in fact, is unlikely. The very next sentence states that Jats had moved into the Punjab by the 4th century AD. Well, there were many foreign invaders (Persians, Alexander, etc) many centuries before we have any proof there were Jats living in this region.John Hill (talk) 10:16, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

edit

Are these even reliable sources?

Also what is with the article its too messy and give irrelevant information with obscure sources. This is badly in need of cleaning. Someone else doesn't in a few days, I will. Sajaypal007 (talk) 22:02, 19 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Clarification of independent Jats in Jangladesh

edit

@Sitush: The sentence that Jat clans had their own chiefs and largely governed by their own customary law is indeed taken from the citation mentioned there. And answer to your confusion that why next para mention them as subjects of Rathores is because self ruling Jat clans exist before Bika invaded Jangladesh. So its talking about pre Rathore era. I don't think, there should be any confusion about it, they are just different time period. Sajaypal007 (talk) 19:38, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

That is why the line, "had to accept" so they became subjects of Rathore rule after Rao Bika conquered the territory. Sajaypal007 (talk) 19:40, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
